So…the bottom center of my PBC has been rusting out for quite some time now, and although the hole isn’t progressing at a rapid rate, other parts are rusting as well and the charcoal basket is not likely long for this world. The cooker is 8 years old, so no complaints. I’ve really enjoyed using it but have been looking at other options as a potential replacement for a hanging type cooker, the main criteria being: (1) Relatively light in weight and easy to move around, (2) Easy cleanup, (3) Easy to use, (4) Relatively few parts to deal with, (5) Has to make great food, and (6) Has to be fun to use, something to enjoy and not be a chore. Hmmm
. After much consideration I finally found the perfect cooker: Another PBC!!
I know ya saw that comin'. These things never go on sale, but after Huskee alerted the board to the special 20% off discount for board members last week, that sealed the deal, so a new one is on its way. Thanks for that heads up, Huskee! I plan on parking the rookie in the garage for a while until Ol’ Smoky finally gives up the ghost, but it’ll be there when I need it. BTW, if I had been able to just buy a replacement charcoal basket I probably would have gone that route for the time being, but it’s not in stock, no telling when it will be, so that was a deciding factor as well.
