    Bottom Air Intake

    Has anyone ever modified the bottom air intake cover by installing a different air intake vent? Big Lew did this to a drum smoker. It was a sliding type vent rather than the original circular one. Just wondering if anyone has ever ventured out and modified in any way.

      I have not done this to any of my PBCs. But it would be handy, I feel like the pit barrel damper never wants to stay put. I did tighten that bolt down really tight so it basically can’t move at all.

        Only thing I can think of is that it would let you snuff out the fire when done? To save the charcoal?

        Or be able to attach a fan for a "controlled" cook?

          I added the adapter so I could use a Fireboard drive with the pit viper fan.


          It's unnecessary. Now I just let it run and it stays a solid 250-260.

          ​​​​​​I will only use the fan if I want to run, like 350 for chickens
