    Pbc mods

Hello, I got a free weekend coming up and i want work on my pbc's but it's become confusing to look up existing threads due to broken images and links. Can anyone please provide some guidance or share a link to a thread on PBC mods. Thanks in advance.

Here is a link that works and you can check out.
I posted this as part of another thread, but as a happy PBC owner for the past three or so years, just wanted to pass along a few recommendations for improvements/options for the PBC:

I have stacks on one of my PBCs for better airflow.

Thank you! Appreciate it, I'll look into the stacks

The best thing I did was a vent on the lid. VENTA to be precise, Vector Engineered Northward Temperature Apparatus.

Weber type dial vent? I think I remember you posting that

Yup the lid vent is very handy.

My son-in-law set his up this way. I'm a bit jealous.

I covered the original air intake with an adapter to use a pit viper fan, so I could control temps with a Fireboard.

I might not do that again. The PBC holds temps, at the range I want to be anyway. I never use the fan.
The silver lining is that the area of the new opening is the same as uncovered portion of the original.....so without the fan attached it runs the same.

My mod I've done is adding three screws for an additional grate level

Adding a port for thermometer probes was also handy

I only used the fan when I had 4 briskets or 3 butts to keep temps from dropping during the stall.

Yeah, fan isn't needed. I was partially stuck on the idea of keeping temps to 225F. Once I got past that, I didn't really need the fan.

Not a PBS, but I made an UDS and the best additions were for air flow control - I put a gate valve at the bottom for fine air intake adjustment, also a 90° ball valve for coarse adjustment of air intake (diametrically opposed to the gate valve).

I also added a threaded 2" elbow fitting to the top of the drum lid in the 2" slot which has two uses, 1) I can rotate it to point away from the prevailing wind, 2) it stops any rain getting in.

    Good luck
