    Badger Barrel

Looks like Noah has a new barrel cooker out called Badger. Look awesome. I might have to pull the trigger!

I read the email release yesterday. Quite clever marketing. Looks like Noah wants to capture a lower-priced slice of the market as well. It looks like a decent addition to the PBC grouping. Plus it has a vent in the lid. Praise be.

Yeah, adding a vent! Who would have guessed?

And, apparently, FireMan , the Badger Barrel "Doesn't Give a Flip" since 2022, from the insignia on the barrel. They must have contacted you for a slogan.

    Looks really well done.

I did not get the email. However, are the hinges close to the the bottom designed to let you lift off the top for easy coal loading?

Yes, I'm guessing, but it also makes the Badger Barrel function as a Hibachi for searing steaks, etc.

So, you are thinking we lift off the top and move the bottom on top of a table or even the Badger itself to function as a hibachi? Panhead John fzxdoc That is pretty nice as it addresses one of my big complaints about the PBC.

Yep, it’s a 3 piece design like the Bronco. Kathryn is right, you can use the lower part of the barrel for grilling…..I assume. Naturally, the Bronco stays in one piece though after assembly.

Had to smile at the "DFG Since 2022" proudly stamped on the front!

Here’s my question, the BB website seems like it’s trying to be a little too mysterious. They say very little about the cooker itself, no mention of the top vent, charcoal pan or other parts, they don’t say anything about setting it up for different styles of cooks etc. Also, in the frequently asked questions section….the question of how to light it, instead of answering it themselves….they send you to the PBC website on how to light the PBC!! Strange

Ok, after reading more on their website, specifically the “About Us” section, this is a more affordable brand of Barrel cooker offered by the owners of PBC……so Badger Barrel is owned by the PBC people.

Oops, Kathryn already mentioned this above, didn’t see it. 🤷‍♂️🙄

I think it is trying to generate interest at this point and filling in the details over the next few weeks/months. If I had to guess, they wanted it live now or even beginning of June to capture summer grilling season. End of August would be kinda late.

Looks like we need just to figure out how to get a shelf and wheels on there.

It only weighs about 34 lbs. May not need wheels.

fzxdoc I have to lug it to the end of the driveway so wheels are nice.

Just for FYI, there used to be a gun barrel company named Badger Barrel, disappeared into other entities after 2009 liquidation.

OK…. the Amazon description states that the outer material is stainless steel, and the inside material is stainless steel. Forgive me if I find this difficult to believe.

Okay gang, here's a PBC Cultist video review of this puppy: Unveiling the Badger Barrel Smoker Under $300: Does it Outshine the Pit Barrel Cooker? - YouTube

As noted above, some features have been taken from the Barrel House Cooker that Noah purchased a couple years back. But three features are what I would consider improvements over the traditional PBC, make that four. One is the domed lid for more useful space for top grate items. Two, the top grate is at rim level so you can more easily access the food instead of reaching down in to flip or retrieve. Three is it has an ash catcher included. Four is the use of cool touch handles.

Good overview and demo. Looks good to me, addresses all the things to make Junior better. I might have to find a new home for PBJ.
