    Original PBC circa 2014

I have had this since 2014. I keep uncovered on my patio all year. I touch up with high temp paint every spring.
Has anyone experienced "rust outs" with these? Click image for larger version

I never did, gave mine to a fellow member. Cooked over 100 briskets on it along with plenty pork shoulders. I'm sure eventually it has to give up the ghost.

Yep. I posted last about it here: https://pitmaster.amazingribs.com/fo...ut-those-ashes

My 2014 model has a giant hole in the bottom but I've got a 1/4" plate down in it and I'm still using it. Mine was under a carport for the first half of its life, but still rusted through the bottom. I'm bad to not clean out ashes until I get ready to cook the next time and living in a high humidity environment made it eat through the bottom.

Mine is at my uncles farm in Iowa. It is still going strong. It does not get much use, but it is not rusted out or anything. Stay in a shed most of the time and I make sure to clean the ashes out after each use. I think that makes a big difference.

I have an original. Keep it in the garage when not in use. Still clicking along.

Cleaning out the ash is key. I would think they would be corrosive.

I got my PBC in July 2014, and it lasted until July of 2020, living outside on my deck in soggy Western Washington. I went through two (three?) covers in that time, and even though it was covered and sitting on it stand, it rusted out around the bottom seam. I always lined the bottom with double HD foil so the ash was mostly contained, so I can't blame that. It was a great cooker, a real "rib machine" !. I replaced it with a Grilla Silverbac, which is certainly easier to use, but just not the same.
