Ooooh, the grill gloves are off! 👊👊 I wasn't going to fire up the Bronco this weekend, but I just might tomorrow if the rain holds off. Or I might put up my popup canopy and do it anyway.Last edited by Steve R.; July 16, 2022, 06:03 PM.

I am still scratching my head over this but unless something pre-owned comes along
I believe the slightest of advantages goes to the OKJ Bronco for me.
I stress for me because the 3 contestants all have their advantages and draw backs.
I have put the kettle on the back burner basically because of capacity. I know I will outgrow it rapidly. Not because of how it performs or many major pitfalls, just size.
Between the Bronco and PBC, they both cook well, they both perform well and there is not major draw backs on either. Pricing is similar.
IMHO, the advantage leans toward the Bronco for me.
And as Panhead John pointed out ...
It comes in orange.
A curious point, the OKJ website only shows the Pro model in orange. There is no mention of the standard modeI coming in anything other than black. I wonder why?
So why am I still waiting? The deal on the Bronco at Home Depot will be there for a week or so and I'm confident they won't run out of stock. I need the final okay from the spouse.
You never know what can turn up used...
Mostly I wanted to thank everyone who took the time to help me out with my latest endeavor!

Panhead John writes:
"The standard size Bronco in orange is an exclusive deal with Home Depot. At this time, it’s not available anywhere else"
Well, that's a valuable piece of information. I must have somehow missed that somehow WTG Home Depot!
Well, if I miss the orange one, so be it. It really isn't a factor.

But if price is indeed a factor, the orange one is $399 vs $422 for the black one right now at Home Depot. You might want to go ahead and jump on that. Come to the dark side...

That's right Steve R the darkside is very tasty and easy, plus you get all you need with the Bronco. I am able to dial it in at 225* for almost 4 hours before it might swing more than 10*Last edited by Northern lights smoke; July 17, 2022, 09:10 AM.

Cookers:
Oklahoma Joe Offset (older thick steel version!)
Camp Chef Woodwind
OK Joe Bronco
Weber Genesis
Ooni Karu
Weber Kettle
My goal is to eventually have at least one of every style of cooker….. I have work to do. Lol!
Thermometers:
ThermoWorks Thermapen MK4
ThermoWorks Thermapen ONE
ThermoWorks Thermopop
ThermoWorks RFX
ThermoWorks IRK-2 Infrared
Maverick XR-50
TempSpike Plus
Other Gear:
Megaforce 3000 Meat Grinder
Weston 7-pound sausage stuffer
Jerky Gun for making poppers. (Game changer!)
Amaz-N-Tube
Original SnS with drip n griddle
Weber Chimney
Fuels Used:
Splits/Chunks, whatever I can get. Usually B&B competition. Favorites are Cherry, Apple, Post Oak, and Hickory.
Pellets, Lumberjack.
Charcoal, whatever is on sale. Currently have a bunch of KBB. Will eventually try B&B. Use whatever lump is on sale in my Ooni.
Propane, Blue Rhino.
Rubs:
Usually make my own riff’s on Memphis Dust and BBBR. Also use Meathead’s commercial rubs and occasionally try something new. I like a couple from Tuffy Stone and Kinder’s. After several surgeries, I’m very sensitive to “spicy” stuff, so I need to be careful about heat levels.

Allon , I truly hope that your wife gets well very soon! I know the waiting part and anticipation sucks, but they aren’t going to stop making Bronco’s anytime soon. I’m with you 100% that the priority is your wife right now.
IMS is absolutely a historic and very cool place! I’m actually much closer to Lucas Oil Raceway, which is the NHRA drag strip. I can hear the races from my back porch and it’s awesome!!!

Man I love NHRA drag racing. Been to several races here in Houston. The most awesome and legal high you can get when they take off!

Yep, every August the NHRA comes to Brainerd. The town is flooded with fans and the stores and hotels are happy. It's very exciting when they come to Brainerd International Raceway and Resort.

Cant add much to what's already been said. I really like my PBC but it's not my primary cooker. I'd definitlely want something for grilling but it sounds like you've still got that covered for now. I'd say get one. And when your grill finally kicks, take advantage of all the second hand webers out there.

Thank you Panhead John. I' m sure she'll be fine. I've been shot a couple times and she's tougher than I am. Just ask her. Oh, I posted a new picture under I met Montel Williams and she's in it. Some day ill figure out this link business...

I'm a little late to this party but I'm gonna add my piece.
I have had one of the original PBC's since 2014.
I have done Zero mods. Zero. Everything is still 100% original.
I'm very hard on grilling equipment ie I don't clean as regularly as some would suggest.
The PBC is still running great. Perfect, in fact.
I only use it for smoking.
Wings, ribs, whole chickens, tri-tip, brisket and so many pork butts it's ridiculous.
They all come out great. Heavy smoke with wood chunks, which we love.
(Sold a Traegor after a month because the smoke flavor was non-existent.)
Still use the original Kingsford.
We've even used to finish Paella.
I love my PBC. So does my significant other.

I keep trying to invent reasons to get something else, but it always comes back to "the PBC already does that". Even when I consider the PBX. It really just meets (meats?) all my needs for a smoker that can handle needs for 2 - 10+ people. Anything else for me can be chalked up to "gear envy"...
