    Better cover for PBC?

Any PBC’ers out there have a suggestion for a better, longer lasting cover to put over the PBC when not in use? The one it comes with has completely disintegrated - I get it, they all do eventually - but at a much faster rate than any of my other grill covers ever have. I don’t mind spending the $35 for a new one from the company, I just wonder if there is a better choice out there somewhere. Thanks!

Funny you bring this up. I just bought a new one from EBAY yesterday. It’s an original one with free shipping. I didn’t want one of theirs but I couldn’t find any that would fit properly anywhere.
Maybe there is something out there but again I couldn’t find one.

Search for 30 gallon drum smoker covers. I see that Northern Tool has a couple, didn't look further. Strange that yours disintegrated so fast, mine has held up fine for 3 years, good as new. A friend bought an off brand cover and it didn't last a year, he bought a PBC cover and is happy with that. Maybe you have an older PBC and they upgraded the covers since then?

A lot of people have bought from this place and have had good luck. Looks like they’re also having 25% off site wide. If they don’t have your cover, they custom make them.

Shop custom grill covers made of waterproof, UV-resistant, and tear-resistant material. Personalize your outdoor BBQ grill cover with a logo or text. Free shipping on orders over $99!

Put your dimensions in here and check out their prices https://www.coversandall.com/custom-...-cylinder.html. I have used them for all my grills, smokers, griddle, outdoor tables, carts, and furniture. Been happy with everyone I ordered and all have been outdoors for years without a hitch or sign of issues.

I checked it out and was surprised at how affordable they were, even for their top of the line fabric. Nice to hear that they stand up in real life too.

I bought one five years or so for my PBC from the cover store. Find it on google.
Fits the drum with lid and the horseshoe handles like it was made for it. Water proof but pliable, black in color. Cover is vented. I do store the PBC covered outside in full weather at the end of my driveway. Have never had a mold problem even here in the hot and humid Alabama climate. Note I do remove rods from drum for ventilation and dump the ashes after a cook before storage. I then store the rods and grate and charcoal holder inside the drum.

I liked it so much that I purchased one for my Jumbo Joe (green). Same quality of workmanship. Much better quality than the Weber cover on my performer. When it dies, I will definitely get one for the performer from the cover store. Price? Not bad. About the same as the one made for PBC or the Weber. In some cases a little less. I totally recommend this one.

I use this stuff on most of my outdoor covers and some camping gear. I'm going on 2 years on the pbc cover and I'd say it still looks close to new.

My PBC cover started fading at the 6-7 month mark and is a light gray at the one year mark. The logo is still readable and the cover is intact but certainly doesn't represent PBC well at first look.
The generic cover for my Weber gas grill was purchased at Costco and looks like new after two years for comparison.

I appreciate the links above for alternate sources. I plan to build a prep table to hold the PBC this summer and a custom cover will be great.

Thanks for the pic HawkerXP! I hadn't considered a fold-down table. Hmmm. What did he make the table portion from?

When I was using my PBC on a regular basis and I kept it stored outside I just used the cover Weber makes for their standard 22” Kettle. It fit over easily, it didn’t have the elastic at the bottom like the PBC had that I hated and it was long lasting. I did have a magnet I put on the cover by the bottom vent to prevent the cover from blowing off and keep water from blowing in.

You might to see if the Weber WSM would fit. I have for the Genesis going 6 plus years and for the Kettle 3 years. They look brand new.

How old was the PBC cover that disintegrated? And does it look like the one currently pictured on PBC’s website? My original cover also bit the dust after a few years, it always felt somewhat brittle and eventually broke through at the lid handle. I bought a new one from them and was impressed with the upgrade in quality between the first version and the newer iteration. If your original one didn’t have the larger PBC logo on the front like the current one does, then I’d highly suggest to just get the PBC replacement, I think you’d be happy with it. I’ve had mine since October 2020 (2 1/2 years) and it looks like the day I bought it. For 35 bucks, I think it’s a good buy.

Similar to Like2Eat , mine faded to gray pretty quickly. Then it just busted through at the top near the handle. I took my chance with a new one from PBC and it does look a bit better. We’ll see. I’ll be using the above links to order some other ones for a different grill. Thanks all!

I got a new one from the company. It seems to be a way better quality than the plastic one I got when I purchased my PBC. It is more cloth than plastic. Easier to work with.
