I can't believe it has a 4-6 week lead time. This is going to be the longest month EVER.
Super-excited, though. The official and unofficial reviews on this site convinced me. I'm a PBC guy now and want to take things to the next level. Can. Not. Wait.
Ooh, nice!! That is one fine smoker, I've been ogling it myself. I'm sure you'll be very pleased with it, but 4-6 weeks wait? That's gonna be a tough one!
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

Congrats! I know that feeling of waiting for the new smoker! Then on delivery day if you're like me you'll pace by the window every 30 seconds waiting to see that truck down the road...and it always comes toward the END of the delivery widow, never the beginning.

I made the mistake of looking at and deciding I want a Shirley Fab cooker. Not looking forward to the wait :P but it'll give me plenty of time to save for all the features I want.
The backwoods have caught my eyes a few times as well, good looking cookers.

You are a lucky man. This will be an excellent addition to your patio or deck. I have only heard good things about these smokers. I am trying to convince on of my buddies that lives out in MT that he needs to get one of these. They seal air tight and you can use regular old Kingsford to run it.
I watched a bit on the Cooking Channel about the Louie Mueller BBQ and how they had a fire and had to put in all new smokers after 56 years. They seasoned their new pit w/a ton of collected solidified drippings from briskets. Any point in me doing anything like that on a new smoker?
I sprayed my G2 with canola oil and let it get up to around 350 for an hour. Started cooking directly after that. You don't get a lot of buildup like on a WSM or the top of a kettle.
I think you're going to be very happy with the G2. There's a local company here in Houston (Lone Star Grillz) that has a similar product called the Pee Wee smoking cabinet (they have two larger sizes as well). When I looked at getting a vertical cabinet I considered the G2 as a strong contender but I'm probably going to commit to Lone Star and save the freight. But I hear what you're saying about waiting, I can't wait to commit, much less wait for it to ship !!!
You mention Shreveport, I have a project we're developing west of downtown. I may actually be up there in a couple of months. Maybe I will swing by and do an eye ball comparison of the G2 and the Pee Wee. thanks for the heads up !!!
