The Plantation 20 year XO one seemed to get high remarks, so i picked one up, as well as a few other bottles today, also a dozen cigars.

efincoop I definitely recommend the Plantation XO as others had already. We still have a half bottle, but I have been offering it to all guests that I think would enjoy a sipping rum, everyone has enjoyed it.

I bought some 94 proof Kraken black spiced rum for $18. That is a huge amount of delicious flavor at that price and I loved it. Wow. I am definitely going to do some dark rums for a while.

Yeah, I have comfortably found a home in rum. I will have to grab that one. I’ve seen it for sure. My wife has settled into tequila.

I used to travel through Puerto Rico quite often and found a local rum called Ron del Barrilito 3 Stars Rum that was really good. Make sure that you try the 3 star version as there is a 2 star that is not as good.

I’m no rum connoisseur, really the only time I drink it is when I’m on vacation in Florida which for some reason triggers the craving. Either way we pretty much stick to Ron Zacapa which is a dark rum. Usually I mix it into some fruity concoction but on the rocks isn’t too bad. Like you I’m used to whiskey on the rocks so rum is quite the change.

        +1 for Ron Zacapa

I don't do a lot of rum, and usually it's mixed, but I did have a bottle of Flor de Caña 18 year from Nicaragua. I bought it there in the airport, but I have since seen it here and it isn't nearly as expensive as I would have expected. Worth sip or three, I would think.

            Now we’re talkin’!

            ”Do you ever get sunburned?”
            ”No.”
            ”But your almost 100% English.”
            ”Yep.”
’So why don’t you get burned.”
            ”It’s the rum.”
            ”The rum?!”
”Have you ever seen a sunburned pirate.”
            ”No.”
            ”There you have it.” ;-)

That was from an actual conversation many years ago. LOL

Another surprisingly great rum (to me currently at least) is the Bacardi 12 year.

I'm a whiskey drinker, (mainly bourbon, rye , and the occasional Islay scotch).
I rarely drink rum but, when I do, it's "The Real McCoy 12 Year" distilled in Barbados. It's a fantastic sipping rum.

I should recommend some Sunset Very Strong Rum - but you ain't gonna find it anywhere above 13ºN latitude.

Ok, well, except my house, of course.

I missed this, first time around. I don’t drink a lot, but I like this one. Might be hard to find, it’s a local (PA) product.
