Ever Toss a New Bottle of Liquor?

Never, but I always buy what I like and people who gift me liquor, are always friends and family, who know better
That being said, if the liquor is bourbon whiskey, it can almost always be used in recipes. I keep a handle of Ancient Age 10 for batches of bourbon slushes, foo foo cocktails for the Missus and recipes.

Do any of you 'tossers' (wait -- maybe 'dumpers' or 'trashers' is more polite) consider using it for a food recipe? Like a BBQ sauce, or bacon-bourbon jam?
I remember going to a BevMo for a recipe requiring bourbon. Not being a bourbon drinker, I asked the staff where I could find some cheap bourbon. After a pause I said "... I'm using it for a recipe ..."
I hope they believed me, and didn't assume I was a cheap drunk!
(My BBQ drink is a variation of IPAs and barrel-aged stouts. Right now, it's New Holland Brewing's 'Dragons Milk')

So…one other reason I never toss a bottle.
my relatives from Germany have been in town the last three weeks. My parents took them to the lake for the week and we were able to get there for the weekend. I have a bottle of Peanut Butter Whiskey at the lake house my sister gave me. It’s horrible…but I kept it. I got it out as a joke and gave my dad’s cousin a sip and he loved it. He and his wife have finished the bottle and are headed to pick up another bottle to take home!
someone will always like the bottle you don’t
