    Roasting coffee on the grill

Does anyone in here roast coffee beans on their grill with say a cast iron pan, or... ?

Never considered this as a possibility. Really hope someone responds to this question!

I tried it a few times. It works, just with some caveats. Everything you cook afterwards in the pan, at least for several cooks, will be coffee flavored. You still have to deal with the chaff so you probably want to dump them afterwards into a colander and shake vigorously. On my first batch I over roasted as I couldn’t hear the 1st or 2nd cracks very well. I now use a Behmor but a popcorn popper does really well too.

I'm also a Behmor user. I started with a whirley pop on the stove. It worked okay but the smoke in the kitchen was a little much. I think something like that would also work okay on a grill. It's cheap enough to find out.

I was told about not doing it in the kitchen, my wife I think isscouring her little 2nd hand stores she likes to shop for one of those popcorn poppers. I will check out the Behmor, not familiar with that name. Thank you.

Good note on the pan and flavoring, now to use that to my advantage, what would be great with a coffee flavor, maybe a coffee cake baked or a sweet roll in the pan. find the strengths I say!

If you have a rotisserie, you can add a drum to it: https://www.amazon.com/MAYMII-Roaste.../dp/B01JRTRZNO There are several other options.

Actually, this is one of the cheaper ones I've seen. There are some high end ones out that that are presumably better made but cost in the hundreds.

I was thinking about it with a basket attachment for my gas rotisserie but I read that the motor turns far too slow.

I spent 3 months in Kansas City two blocks down from a Folgers plant.

I love the smell of coffee, but not enough to want to roast it within two blocks of anything I like.
