- If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
My wife will ask me to take her through the Starbucks drive through, and then feel bad that I don't order anything. I tell her I'd rather save my calories for beer, or a bottle of Mexican Coke from the fridge at the house.
I've kinda gotten on a micro-plastics kick lately, and have taken two Keurig machines out of commission, into a box in the garage. If we don't miss them, they are off to a donation center in a few more weeks. It was the wife's idea initially, but I am onboard with it, as I prefer better coffee anyway.
I'm using a drip coffee maker with a #4 filter with beans I grind myself, and for lesser amounts, a French press. And a 30 year old Delongi pump espresso machine. In fact, often, I use a Bodum travel press, which is just a French press in an insulated stainless cup, I drop two scoops of grounds in, pour in hot water from a electric kettle, and push the plunger down a few minutes later.
Lately due to chemo, Yvonne doesn't like hot coffee, but likes cold brew or iced coffee. Bodum makes a cold brew maker that is just a 1.5L French Press that you put in the fridge, with a nice pour spout on it. She drinks so much of that that I put a second French press in the fridge to keep more of it on hand.

Here in TN there are more drive-thru options, but in CA it was one of the only places you could get the “fancy” coffee drinks my wife likes without getting out of the car.
We had a lot of great coffee places, but NONE of them had a drive thru. It baffled me that no one else opened a location that would support car service - I stared to think it was a conspiracy that S’bucks somehow blocked anyone else from doing it. 🤣
But when you’ve got young kids and getting them in and out of the car is a chore…you go to the place with the drive thru. 🤷♂️

I don't mind SB, and their employee programs are really good (just like Hooters actually). But I rarely go, I prefer my crappy black coffee at a 10th of the price. Biggest issue for me is the ones inside stores and hotels play by different rules than the main stores.

On the very rare occasion my wife drags me into a Starbucks, it is always an adventure ordering my preferred drink, a Cortado. Rarely is it on a menu and I usually just get a blank confused look.
I need to explain how I want it made and suggest they ring it up as any drink type they prefer, call it a latte if they want.
Even after telling them to pull two shots of their blond espresso roast and add an equal volume of steamed whole milk, no foam, they have trouble. Half espresso and half milk is too challenging for most of their baristas. I request the smallest cup since they always seem to use too much milk.

I have a cup of Starbucks every morning but aI brew it at home and it’s wonderful. Like others have noted, I don’t enjoy Starbucks when brewed in store. It tastes bitter to me. My wife worked for Starbucks for 12 years and she still gets a pound of coffee per week free of charge. We mix espresso beans with decaf beans and use a DeLonghi Magnifica XS machine. What makes the difference I couldn’t tell you.

Wife & I really like their Verona dark roast coffee, to me brews up strong very well w/o tasting burnt. While I typically enjoy French roast I am not a big fan of their French roast because that does taste overdone to me, not in a good way. I add a small dribble of heavy whipping cream to Verona for that lush moutfeel. Yum Yum.
Lately we've been enjoying Cafe Bortelo. It's reallygood and ~10 cents/oz. cheaper than buying Starbucks. Brews up a great espresso.

I only go to the local Starbucks when I'm visiting grandkids in GA. The store is 1 block between their schools and it's very busy with kids and parents walking to school. I never order anything in the store. I do however like brewing at home their Sumatra whole bean coffee.

2 reverse flow stick burners (I built)
Propane griddle
3 charcoal grills
pellet grill
Meat slicer, meat grinder, sausage stuffer
In southern Illinois, Scooter’s coffee has a dollar delights menu for regular coffee. $1 for small 2$ for med. 3$ for large. 2 small ones is lots more than a large. Dark roast with heavy cream is my go to.

What I do know is there is a lotta deserted wasteland out there. Cuz there are a lotta folks who juss love the stuff, my wife bein one of them. That is how I know cuz I have to frequent one of em every week at least to git her fave drink. My wife does not like coffee BYW. She thinks she does, but even at home it is a diluted, minimum strength K-thing with a ton of cream and a fair amount of sweetener. I tasted her concoction one time and did not taste any coffee. She tasted mine and said it was far too strong. Mind you make mine in a Moka pot, French press, percolator, Turkish Ibrik, whatever fits my fancy with no junk in it, black, straight up. Do not cook it in a little plastic cup.
Now back to Starbucks, to each his own, millions of peeps like it. No argument from me.

They closed my local Starbucks a couple of weeks ago. It was right on Main Street and was very convenient to stop and pick up coffee on the way out of town when going to court. The new one they opened instead, is pretty far out of town near the mall and not at all convenient for me in the morning. I was pretty P.O'd
