I had to do some research on the 1891 red Dublin sodas after texastweeter mentioned them. This is supposedly the original Dr. Pepper formula. Dublin bottling still sells several flavors of sodas that are very good. I found several good reviews on the 1891 red. Dublin’s down fall or claim to fame is they refused to switch to corn syrup and stayed with Imperial Pure Cane Sugar instead. The old Dublin DP bottles have the Imperial logo on them. If I get to make it to a fall meet up I’ll bring some. Thanks texastweeter this was a fun rabbit hole to go down.

Unfortunately you're paying for the cup at those kinda places, or so those in the know have told me. Best Coke ever is in a glass bottle, and made with cane sugar if you can find it. Chemically, sugar is sugar, and the glass is simply the vessel, but you can't tell me those don't hit way different. Like a blast back to childhood.

We have Mexican Coke easily available down here. To me it does taste much sweeter. Of course, the first time I bought one I was like....how do I not have a bottle opener in my house?!

I had an old uncle who swore that the cokes in the small glass bottles tasted better than the ones in the larger glass bottles. He would take me to the local drug store where there was a machine that had the small cokes for 6 cents. To your point, yes the bottled cokes are better.

Small bottle Cokes do taste better. Open a bottle, add some salted peanuts and enjoy a southern treat.
And just for Panhead John

Food margins are lower, they jack up the price of pop to make up for it.
The reason is people will price compare a burger, but not the drink.
Which is kind of funny, because people price compare the heck out of pop at a grocery store.

BTW, cokes at McDonald's taste better than at other places reportedly because McDonald's water filtration is the best, they pre chill both the water and syrup and they add slightly more syrup than other places.YMMV

I love coke, but with the recent a1c readings the last one was my last one.
What really gets my goat is the fact that every damn restaurant/FF joint have brought TEA to the price of soda! I started drinking unsweet tea while working in TX on an road/asphalt crew and one summer day we were in a valley with zero wind and it was 108 in the shade (asphalt falls out of the truck at around 300, but I've seen it come out with fire spouts like lava almost). I couldn't stomach the thought of something sugary, and I enjoyed the fact the tea was free refills.
Now, everything is free refills and they make up the profit difference by charging outrages prices for tea and coffee.
