My wife and I were on our way home from a day in Abilene, Tx today. We normally drink iced tea but as we neared Cisco TX ( home of Conrad Hiltons first hotel) my wife asked how long it had been since I’d had a coke. I couldn’t remember the last coke I’d had. So we pulled up to the drive through window at the Wendy’s on the south side of Cisco and I ordered 2 large cokes. I was shocked when the young lady handed me 2 very normal looking cokes and said, “that will be $7.12” . Good grief! Over 7 dollars for 2 cokes to go at a drive up window! I know the economy is in a bit of a mess but not that bad. If I remember right the last mixed drink I had cost less. I’m glad we bought more tea bags at Sam’s. It’ll be a while before I order another Coke.

Oak Smoke How odd! I just saw a bartender make one like five days ago. I'll ask next time I'm in there. (I meet up with some friends about once a week or so.)

Michael_in_TX I just told my wife about this conversation. She was all in. I’m pretty sure you’ll make her Christmas card list if you tell her how to get a to go Margarita.

- If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
Yeah, soda is the number 1 profit maker for most restaurants. And Wendy’s is about double McDonald’s for a coke. I’ll usually try and get stuff like that at a gas station when traveling.

When I was hittin all those burger places recently, all the fast casual places were $3.25-$3.50 for a fountain drink. If you’re dining inside a fast food joint, NEVER order a medium or large, get the small. Almost everyone will give you free refills.
