My wife told me that some guy on the Food Network said "I feel sorry for people who don't drink alcohol, because when they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel for the rest of the day."

I just asked my wife and she said that the guy who said it did credit Frank.

I think that's only true for drinkers that didn't drink the night before. This most recent holiday reminded me of that 👌🏻

I used up my allotment of good time drinking years ago. A couple years after that, I gave it up. So, all my months are dry months from here on out.

Nothing wrong with that. You will certainly live longer and healthier for it. The saying that one to two drinks a day are actually good for you is complete pseudoscientific rubbish. There is no healthy amount of alcohol.

I have found that alcohol does not agree with me, it affects my sleep negatively and makes my heart race so I stopped drinking the day after Christmas, for those reasons I do not miss it at all.

I started wearing a Woop strap last year after a life insurance physical and blood test. The results were quite startling. One beer completely altered my sleep pattern and lowered my heart rate variability (a key measure of fitness and health) dramatically. Not trying to be a wet blanket, I drink beer most every day - but it ain't good for anything.

hoovarmin I’ve seriously considered the whoop because the insights my Apple Watch give me are useful for tracking but not really informative. How do you like it?

jhapka I am not wearing it at the moment. I went a stretch with it when I was taking better care of myself after some disappointing results from a blood test and the insights it provides are incredible. I highly recommend to anyone looking to improve their health or athletic performance.

I saw the OP and thought it was a great idea. I always drink my martinis extra dry anyway. Then I read the replies and realized I had totally misinterpreted the meaning of dry here. My drink or two per week aren't enough to have any impact on my health so as long as my doctors aren't saying I need to stop, I'll keep going at this pace.

The non-alcoholic beer options are getting pretty good these days. Athletic Brewing Co's Hazy IPA and Golden Ale have earned their spot in my beer fridge!

I tried that once…and Total Wine sent a police welfare check.

No thank you, I'll pass the opportunity. I do respect those who make the choice to not drink. You do it for many reasons and that is OK.

I haven't had an alcohol beverage in almost 20 years. I don't miss it much. I don't mind those who do...
