    Weekend cocktail recommendations.

Here's what I'm thinking for this weekend.

    El Chipilo Cocktail
    • 1 1/2 ounces reposado tequila
    • 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
    • 1/2 ounce Aperol
    • 1/2 ounce simple syrup
    • 2 dashes of Angostura bitters
    • 2 dashes Tabasco
This one goes down perhaps a little too easily for me. It's also not really in-season but I'm making it anyway.

    Amaro Cocktail
    • 1 ½ oz. Cynar
    • 1 oz. walnut liqueur
    • ½ oz. barrel-aged Cachaça

I have had a bottle of Nocino on the shelf for quite a while and it's time to try it out. This will be the first time I try this particular cocktail. I think this will likely go well with the wet blustery day we're having here.

    Amaretto Sour
    • 1 1/2 ounces amaretto liqueur
    • 3/4 ounce cask-proof bourbon
    • 1-ounce lemon juice, freshly squeezed
    • 1 teaspoon rich simple syrup
    • 1/2 ounce egg white (or aquafaba)
    • Garnish: lemon twist
    • Garnish: 2 brandied cherries
Here's another I'm going to deem seasonal.

    What will you be drinking?

What will I be drinking? Nothing. Still on the wagon under doctors orders until at least the first of the year. 😩👎. I’ll just keep living through you and the others.

Probably just beer, but at least it's something.

These look good as usual! I’ve seen a few “sours” on YouTube lately, very interested in these, seeing the true style using the egg white as you have listed here. Looking forward to your photos on that!

for me, my mixology supplies arrived Wednesday, so excited to give these a go. On tap…..a Martinez as I mentioned earlier this week. Also going to make an Espresso Martini - I made my own coffee saccharum (used espresso pods, demara sugar, vodka and rum). Initial tasting on the saccharum is good. Coffee definitely stands outs but has some nice sweetness to it.

Also need to figure out what to make my wife. Her go to is either a margarita or a Perfect Martini….very dirty! The El Chipilo is interesting, but I don’t have Aperol…although my neighbor does and they are joining us for cocktails tomorrow, so could as them to bring it and give that a try…

looking forward to everyone’s posts for the weekend!

Sours are great. I prefer aquafaba to raw egg white in fact I just opened a can of garbanzo beans, drained the aquafaba into a squeeze bottle, and made some crunchy-spicy bar snacks from the beans.

I forgot, what supplies did you order again? I intend to do some of these threads highlighting equipment along with cocktails in the future. I have some great gear that I've collected over the years.

Coffee saccharum sounds really interesting. I was not familiar with the term. I was thinking about an Expresso Martini but not having expresso on hand led me away from the idea. I have now put espresso cold brew concentrate on my shopping list.

I think your wife would probably like El Chipilo. Maybe you should consider the Earl Grey Marteani she might like that as well!

Attjack - so the liquid in garbanzo beans? Wow! How cool is that!

I ordered a mixing glass, julep strainer and a bar spoon. After last weekend, the bartender gave me a lesson on mixing and shaking….this mixing glass is so much easier to mix vs a rocks glass!

And the saccharum - I can send you the video I watched if you are interested. Another bar tender channel I found over the week….. but I think it would be cool for you to highlight equipment as well!

We have a winner! Great cocktail.

This is funny. My power is out so I brave the rain and go into my garage to get some lanterns. I see a group of neighbors standing on one of their porches across the street (we had all been texting about the electricity earlier). One of them yells something but I could not make it out so I just waved. Once inside, I check my texts and the neighbors were asking if I was making cocktails 😂 I told them I was working on it and sent this picture moments ago.

I am lazy so here is my drink recipe:

        Elysian Brewing Space Dust IPA

        1. Buy a 6 or 12 pack
        2. Open one can or bottle
        3. Pour into a pint glass, served neat.

Space Dust is good stuff. You would never guess how strong it is by the taste.

Attjack I like reading these posts - great weekend starter. I don't have near the liquor/mixer collection you do, and really never will. So even though I can't make several of them, I like your posts. Please keep them coming. My son and I did a mini-vacation recently with a few stops on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, and some not on the trail. Anyway, we enjoyed several variations of Old Fashion cocktails along the way, so I've been on a kick for those lately. Have a great weekend!

Nice! I'm glad people enjoy these threads. I'll keep them coming most weeks. I would like to hit that bourbon trail some day!

Alright….dinner is done (posted in Show us) and now it’s cocktail time! My first attempt at a Martinez….and it’s as good as the one I had last weekend (the bartender was kind enough to provide me her recipe). Only thing…I don’t have a coupe glass small enough…so this looks a bit off but the flavor is there!

cheers to the weekend Attjack and everyone else!

I was making reccomendations. I'm pretty simple with my drinks. Most of the time it is a single malt or bourbon neat. I'll have an old fashioned no garnish, dirty martini, or scotch and ginger ale occasionally. barelfly

Cheers! We're still in the dark here. Instead of cooking in the dark we walked in the wind and rain to pick food from the food carts.i got karaage chicken and she got Italian . I'll probably head back downstairs and fix another cocktail after we eat.

Even with the vodka it will eventually mold especially if you don't refrigerate it. Apparently, the way it works is that 2:1 syrup is 33% sweeter than 1:1.

Attjack so do you have to change the amount of simple syrup you use because it's double strength?

Not usually but I will adjust recipes if a drink is too sweet.
