    Cocktail?

My next BBQ competition event has a cocktail contest on Friday night. It's June, judging is outside, so cool and refreshing is the order!

I did well last November with my "peanut butter cup soda." It was a 360 Vodka contest, with many flavors. I used their double chocolate. Mixed with peanut butter whiskey (screwball), pritchard's fudge brownie (for color) and Topo Chico fizz water. Stir gently and pour over peanut butter cup ice cream.

I could do this again, but other choices would be nice. What would you do?

I would have a beer and watch.

One bourbon, one scotch, and one beer.

Yum! I would make a 'key lime pie' version of the cocktail Attjack recently shared- the Ramos Gin Fizz. I would 'key lime pie' it by maybe using a martini glass or coupe glass and rimming the glass with graham cracker crumbs or topping the drink with them, or both. If it had to be vodka, I'd probably experiment with marshmallow vodka and regular until the sweet/tart balance was right, just like the pie.

I like that! Not being a gin fan, I'd have to do vodka. Thanks, Huskee!

CandySueQ You definitely can. I made it last night with bourbon, it was essentially a much creamier whiskey sour, with a lime touch. Versatile recipe.

Mojitos are fun summer drinks. Or Moscow Mules.

That was under consideration! Found a recipe in an advert in Fine Gardening magazine. White rum, berries (blueberries, raspberries or watermelon suggested), mint, juice and skin of 2 limes, sugar and soda water over crushed ice.

texastweeter! I'm really an ex-Texan! Spent from 1976 to 1999 in Beaumont and finally in Dallas before joining the family business. I earned my Justins, but never could get comfy in the hat!

Think if I were to do that it'd have to be Sinatra Jack Daniel's. Don't want to give it to judges though.

I bought a bottle of Sinatra select prerelease from the distillery after a tasting tour. Did not like the stuff, gave it to an employee. My favorite jd is single barrel cask strength.

Here you go, sure fired winner at any BBQ, PBR Bloody Mary

      1 serving:

      1½ ounces vodka
      â…” cup tomato juice
      2 teaspoons lemon juice
      ¾ teaspoon prepared horseradish
      ¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
      ½ teaspoon Tabasco
      Pinch of celery salt
      8 ounces PBR
      Celery stalk, to garnish

      1. In a cocktail shaker, combine the vodka, tomato juice, lemon juice, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, celery salt, and 2 or 3 ice cubes.
      2. Shake well to combine, then strain into a glass. Top with the PBR and serve immediately, garnished with a celery stalk.

I actually worked at a bar years ago where we would put a splash of Old Style into our Bloody Marys.

I spent the weekend testing cocktails! I have 2 bottles of blood orange sour mix, so I tried their orange daquari recipe and found it a bit lacking. Cut back on the rum and added mandarin orange vodka -- now that was nice. I've got the marshmallows melting in vodka to try key lime. Tonight it's peanut butter blackberry fizz.
