The Beer That Made Milwaukee Famous Is No More

Let us all stop and bow our heads in sadness for a moment.

That's too bad. But, as they say, it's the Schlitz when you're out of beer

Yeah I saw that earlier today, it’s a shame. Schlitz was the first beer I started drinking, I think I was about 7? 🧐

Thank goodness you upgraded to Coors Lite. 😏

Didn't like Schlitz but did like old Milwaukee.

Ditto. Had my first Old Milwaukee with my uncle when I was 16 fishing in one of the ponds near his house. So good when ice cold. Went well with the doobie we smoked.

I was too young for sure but I may have taken 3 of my grandpa's Milwaukee's Bests out to my deerblind when I was 15 or so.....

I don’t think Schlitz has been sold in my area for years…

I will guarantee it’s NOT because people around here are not drinking, they're just not drinking that.

Yes, if you're holding immodium stock, now it's the time to sell.

At our frat house, we got Blitzed on Blatz beer. I do miss Schlitz, Falstaff, Old Chicago, Little Kings Cream Ale, and Schaefer from my younger years.

They still sell Blatz at the little tavern down the road from me not sure who is making it these days.
Also drank a lot of Red, White, and Blue back in the day, which was a Pabst product iirc.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it but I’ve never had it, and at this point, I think it’s safe to say I probably never will. Milwaukee’s best light, the beast, is what got me through college. $4.99 a twelve pack! Sid P

Yup, big money, if go in enough time will kill everything. Today, actually for a couple of decades "branding" has been the thing. Who gives a rip about product, quality, jobs, etc, etc, etc. Show me the money! The Pabst they make today is NOT the Pabst they made at the old brewery in Milwaukee.

I think it’s actually brewed by Miller.
                  Not sure though. 🤷‍♂️

Can I show off my Schlitz beer can collection from the mid 70’s? That was one wall of my bedroom stacked floor to ceiling with beer cans. 🙄 That’s me 2nd from the right in the cowboy hat. Me and my buds just finished a game of football in the lot next to the trailer park I lived in……..😂 Talk about white trash…..🤣

I love these statues too. Not sure if you guys see these anywhere else but I always thought this was a pretty iconic bar decoration.

Years ago it was said in these parts that Coors was brewed with pure rocky mountain spring water. Schlitz and Falstaff were Coors that had already been drunk.
