I prefer V8 0ver tomato juice. Less acid, less heart burn.

      Tomato JUICE.

I wanted to like this and have tried it several times because I love tomato juice and I love beer, but not together! I do like a Snakebite, though (half cider and half lager, layered in a glass). Popular in England.

Like a good black and tan …. Guinness and Bass Ale.

OMG, Bass Ale…. It’s been years!!

Or its lighter cousin, Guinness and Harp. This was my jams.

Gonna sound weird…mix beer with 1oz sweet vermouth & 1oz campari…over ice or stirred in ice then top with a froth made of small amount of beer + salt that has been whipped using one of those coffee whippers. I throw in 1.5oz vodka. If you like Negronis then check it out if not then might not be for you. I drink a michelada about 5 nights a week week

And when the beer started to go flat you could sprinkle a little salt in it to bring the head back up

I grew up in northern Wisconsin. We called beer & tomato juice a poor man's Bloody Mary. They used to make (maybe still do) green olives sealed in a package with their juice, which, we'd dump in our beers (juice included) and call it a poor man's martini.

My grandmother used to refer to beer mixed with a fruit soda (usually orange but strawberry if she could find it) as a Cincinatti. Which reminds me, when I was in Germany, sometimes you'd see the Germans mix beer and cola, which they called a "trekkish" (sp?) meaning "dirty" beer.

Reminds me of a story I know I've repeated here before, about the guy who brought beer to sample to our homebrew club about 10 -12 years ago. He had made a "pizza" beer. Tomato puree and garlic. He wanted know what he could do about the garlicky aroma, and lack of head retention. We told him the only thing to do was NOT put that crap in his beer. After we all got up to dump and rinse our tasting glasses, I think he was insulted, as he never came back.

99% of the time I like my beer separate from anything else, save a lime and pinch of salt with Mexican beer. But that 1%…

Almost always it’s a miche, and I’m on vacation sitting by the pool…and it’s a breakfast beer.

+1 with SheilaAnn While we were living in Mission Viejo, CA and spending a lot of time in Rosarita Beach, Mexico, lime to any Mexican beer and food is great.

I do like a slice of lime in a estella jalisco, my latest favorite Mexican beer

Up until now I thought the only “beer cocktail” was a boilermaker. Of which I have had my share, unfortunately. I learned something this morning. But I’ll probably just stick with just beer. Kind of like all of these flavored whiskeys. No thanks.

fxzdoc quote: "If it has weird stuff in it and it's served in a martini glass, that doesn't make it a martini."

That's a keeper quote right there. LMAO :-)

fzxdoc OMG, so I’m not the only one! Get creative people, there is NO SUCH THING AS A CHOCOLATE MARTINI!! Ugh! Or any other alleged martini that isn’t a proper martini.

I even have to be in a generous mood to not say something snarky when someone asks for a vodka “martini.” LOL

Hmm, can't say I have even heard of this mixture! I do like bloody mary's extremely rarely.

A great enhancement to tomato juice is just a splash of pure cranberry juice. It rounds out the flavor nicely. If you like cranberry juice for health reasons this is a great way to consume it. Plus some lemon and/or season salt sprinkled on top.

I'm not a fan - even a Bloody Mary turns my stomach.
A waste of good beer IMO.

What? Waste of good beer? Don't use good beer, use Coor's Light.

Zing Zang added to Mich Ultra is my go to. Add a splash of Brenarsky’s and green olives to take it up a notch.

          Have fun!

So I gave this a crack, a new concept for this little black duck. I notice that there aren't too many fence sitters in this discussion. After trying several different ratio's of juice to beer, I too will be jumping off the fence and firmly into the NOPE camp

I like an occasional red beer, but I prefer a beer-tini.
I usually order a small pitcher of Lite at the bar, and the barback brings me a short glass full of olives and brine.
