It’s Dos Equis for me and when it comes to margaritas and tequila that’s something that’s very important in taste. I get the Margarita sour mix powder in bags from Chili’s and make my own presidente margarita. I might be a tightwad but that don’t stand in the way for my margarita’s on the rocks. I can’t stand frozen margaritas those are for the ladies but all those that like them frozen am fine with that, and their always still welcome at the table.

"Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy." ~Benjamin Franklin
I like craft beer and have a local brewery near me. I also home brew. Having said that my day to day beer is Yuengling Traditional or Shiner Bock.
As far as margaritas, I only drink them when I go to a restaurant and I usually order the top shelf version, usually on the rocks.

While on an annual vacation with a few families, I've had the pleasure of doing a tour/tasting at the Yuengling brewery in Pottsville, PA a couple of times. The kids were bored but the adults had a good time!Originally posted by smokin fool View PostSign me up for both, frozen or unfrozen, bottles, cans or draft....
+1 on Yuengling my nephew in Frisco turned me on to it last year on a visit hopefully they start importing it up here....and I'll never refuse a Shiner Bock.

For Mexican beer, I like Modelo Negra, Pacifico, or Corona. For Margaritas, I prefer tequila or mezcal, lime juice, and Cointreau. However, I prefer Palomas or better yet Ranch Water over the margarita.

Attjack its getting plain old Topo Chico Mineral water that's holding me back on Ranch Water.
Amazon shows it but its never in stock and it like $130 a dozen.
Guess I could use another mineral water but it wouldn't be authentic ranch water either.

smokin fool I usually use whatever soda water I have on hand.

Beer - lately it's been Negra Model, Killian's Red and Smithwick's Red.
For margs, we make our own fresh sweet & sour mix from fresh fruit (this step absolutely 1000% cannot be overemphasized) and I usually do Cazadores anejo tequila, a good quality orange liqueur (not de Kuyper's Triple Sec - blech!
), probably a splash of cognac or brandy and a complimentary splash of grenadine syrup.
BTW, I also use fresh sweet & sour mix in my whiskey sours - this has always been a labor-intensive process - and it still IS, but I have recently found a secret to DRASTICALLY increase my yield in making my own S&S. Let me know if you're interested, I get 6-8x as much now out of the same amount of fruit. It is ridiculous! I LOVE it!
(edit - not a pyramid scheme!)

I've been drinking a local red called Laker Red mostly because its the cheapest tall boy on the market up here. If I want to go high faluntin its Michelob Ultra sometimes Red Stripe.
For my S&S mix I go with the the appropriate flavor of Gatorade.
-
realdocBBQ I'm saying store-bought sour mixes aren't as good as a homemade or mixing cocktails with fresh ingredients.
-
Oh absolutely! I've gotten hooked on fresh sour mix, there's no comparison with the store-bought 'mixes'. It's kind of a PITA to make, but it's amazing.
-
Put me down for Cuervo Especiale and PBR. I like to mix them, toss in a blender, throw in ice cubes and, voila, frozen hangovers.

🤣 sounds good. About 16 years ago one of my co-workers had a party at his house. I was drinking about 7 margaritas, a few beers and started on some HARD stuff and got SICK at my co-workers HOUSE.
I thought for sure my butt was in for a chewing at work on Monday but he was cool and never said a word. I stopped drinking like that and never, never again.

Since this is in the beer channel, a "Beer'rita" is a good thing! Take a beer, whatever you like but it should be a lighter bodied one, like a pilsner (NO IPAs or stouts) and add a glug or two of lemonade and a glug or two of tequila. Another one I enjoy is taking the Lime Cactus Micehlobe Ultras and adding a glug of dry gin. Yum. Even adding a glug of bourbon to a beer is good, it adds a caramel-y flavor, just make sure not to overdo it, it can ruin the beer in a hurry.

I know some people will say that using a top shelf tequila to make a margarita on the rocks is a waste, but I have to disagree. My two favorite tequilas for this are Don Julio Anejo or Herradura Reposado. I use Dr. Swami Bone Daddy's mix, it has real citrus pulp in it. I'll add some fresh squeezed lemon and lime and top with Grand Marnier. 20 shakes in metal shaker and you're set.

For beer I am a craft beer guy. Enjoy pilsners, Kolsch, IPA, DIPA, Porters, and Stouts.
I make Margaritas with fresh Lime Juice, Tequila, Grand Marnier (or Dry Curacao or Cointreau), and a splash of simple syrup. On the rocks. Sprinkle of salt in the drink.
I do enjoy a frozen drink on vacation or on a hot summer day.
Ranch water is good. Also try a daiquiri - rum, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup. Shake with ice pour over fresh ice or drink straight up. Not at all like those frozen mixes. Clean, tart, and refreshing.

A good hoppy IPA, porters and stouts. I do enjoy a Miller Lite in a cold frosty mug with pizza or a cheeseburger, brings back memories from my youth. At the beach, a frozen margarita is enjoyable.

I remember drinking Colt 45 and 40oz OE back in college - even took 'em in the shower at times. lol I don't think I could drink a 40oz anymore without exploding in the time it takes for it to stay cold - or even lukewarm. lol
