    Going to Dallas...

Hey everyone! I'll be in Dallas, specifically Grapevine, next month for a work conference. I'll only be there for a couple nights, but I'd love to hit up some bbq joints while I'm there. Any recommendations? Can't miss places?

Hard Eight, Soulman's, Goldee's, Pecan Lodge, and one of my favorite dumps when I worked in downtown Dallas was a place called Sammy's that was right behind the Federal Reserve Bank.

Goldee’s should be at the top of your list according to Texas Monthly and others. They were rated the #1 BBQ joint in the state, in the last Texas Monthly’s Top 50 In Texas.

I consider Soulman’s to be nothing special. Cattlack is good. Be sure you check when they are open, because some are open only a couple of days a week.

If you're in Grapevine, head a bit East to Hutchins in McKinney. They are very consistent in making great BBQ.

+1 on Goldee's and Pecan Lodge. I also like 407 BBQ and Hurtado BBQ. As always, YMMV.

I’ve only eaten at the Arlington location of Hurtado’s. Multiple visits now. They’re a favorite of mine.

I had a great time at Terry Black’s which is open into the evening. That may make a big difference depending on your schedule (it did for us).

We are in Dallas this week for the VEX robotics world championship cheering on my son’s team. I figured this was a once-in-a lifetime opportunity to get my family some Texas BBQ. We took at look at the top 50 list from Texas Monthly and Terry Black’s was the only place open late enough (we arrived at 7:30pm) for our needs.

Don’t bother with Hard 8 if you want great BBQ. I’ve never had anything great there. But I keep going back (to 4 different stores) because it’s good BBQ and it’s an enjoyable experience. I’ve probably eaten at Hard 8 a couple dozen times.

Soulmans… ah, yeah, ok… pass. Not sure why people like them so much. I would eat there if they were in Ohio. But in Texas? So easy to find much better.

Terry Blacks is probably one of the best you’re going to find in evening hours.

I’d go to hard 8 just for the onion rings. They are so good!

Thanks, everyone! I'll check in once I'm there and let you all know what I tried.
