Hey folks, I find myself in Galveston for the next couple of days, and am hoping to find a good bbq place here in town for dinner on Weds, after Mardi Gras mayhem is over (don't know who the genius was to schedule a conference in Galveston at Mardi Gras...!!). Any recommendations? Madame Googles suggests Queens BBQ, Texas Pit Stop, Koop's... Any input most welcome
There is a Buc-ee's half way to Houston in Texas City. I hear they have some pretty good Q. Even if they don't or you haven't experienced Buc-ee's, you should go.
Get ready to indulge in smoky, tender, and finger-licking goodness as I take you on a culinary adventure through Galveston's finest bbq joints. From low and slo
Thanks Panhead John I read that as well. I am convinced that was written by AI, with maybe the "Jen Norman" being a real person who just did copy editing. The breathless prose and identical structure to each writeup is a dead giveaway... Nevertheless, I did just get back from Koop's, and will post up my review here in a bit - it was awesome!
I just skimmed through her reviews, but yeah, she goes a little overboard with her “breathtaking” descriptions….🙄 If I’m in a different city I like to ask the hotel staff..who’s got the best ……..in town? The locals are usually a good place to start also, in addition to online.
Not at all an unreasonable suggestion. But alas, I'm not a seafood fan, just don't really care for exoskeletal lifeforms, aside from shrimp. If it lives in water, I need for its skeleton to be on the inside That said, I did have a very nice sushi roll for dinner this evening...
DaveDToo late to help you now but for future reference a friend just opened a BBQ food truck on Crystal Beach across from Family Dollar, a short ferry ride across the bay to the east of Galveston. It's called Sparrows BBQ.
Open weekends only. I haven't been there but I'm sitting here 40 miles away at my local hang out (Neches Brewing Co.) where he also operates a food truck for the brewery - he just brought in some brisket samples and it was really good! Can't wait to head to the beach and try his full menu.
EDIT: He just brought me a Dr. Pepper pulled pork sandwich. It's hard to screw up pulled pork and he did not: this is a really good sandwich.
