Interesting New York Post story from Apple news...

BBQ has its roots in the South, but luckily for meat lovers everywhere, authentic smokehouses have proliferated across the nation. While it’s possible to find barbecue-style dishes at the best diners in America, the best steakhouses in America and even at the best brunch restaurants in America, when the craving strikes we go. They must have barely missed the cut, along with Dickey's.

No Black"s. How can that be? I will vouch for La Barbecue. That stuff is unreal. Probably the best BBQ I have ever eaten. I really loved Kruez's Meat Market too.

Agree. They can replace Salt Lick with Black's.

I'm going to go ahead and doubt this list.

On the one hand, I have absolutely no doubt that all these restaurants are outstanding.

On the other hand, I also know for certain that the authors have not been to every BBQ joint in America, and therefore the list cannot be what it says it is.

I haven't been to any of these, by the way. The best BBQ I've ever paid for was when the Wilkes-Barre Elks club would set up their converted drums on the corner of Washington and Northampton streets and grill ribs dry-rubbed Memphis style. Those ribs were outstanding.

Then there's your backyard Mosca ...😜 I bet the best in the Pit would give all of those restaurants a run for their money.

I was going to say "my backyard" but it wouldn't surprise me if all the places on the list are way ahead of me. I'm okay, my bbq is good enough, but these are the best professionals in the country. They'd BETTER be better than me! Now the rest of The Pit, I'm sure some of youse are just as good!

Yeah these are hardly scientific cut & dry "best" places. Best will always be subjective and limited by the author's experiences. It's fun to compare one article's "bests" with another, and see the same names but in different orders, and then to see new names.

I've always felt that they want to make sure they cover everywhere in the country. I have no doubt that you could find 28 great places in Texas, the Carolinas, Memphis, and KC before you would hit the best BBQ in LA and NYC.

Well, I give them props for recognizing Red State in Lexington, KY. But I can't imagine any bizarre alternate reality where Moonlite is in the top 15 in America.

I've eaten at four on the list, and Smitty's and Black's in Lockhart, TX are noticeably absent. I guess they did 't want to choose three from the same small town. I've eaten at Kruez and I would put Smitty's and Black's in the same league and ahead of the other three on the list that I've eaten at.

I've eaten in Lockhart several times. It's BBQ Mecca. All three are world class.

Never been to Lexington Barbecue but driven by it many times as it's only 30 minutes from my home. I'll need to check it out. I will say Speedy's Barbecue in Lexington is pretty darn good.

Dr Hogly Woglys is the only one on the list I've been to. It's what turned me on to BBQ.
