Discovered JD's Smokehouse this week. Located just off I-40 exit 113 Rutherford College/Connelly Springs. Excellent Brisket and Chopped Pork! And don't miss their sides. Red Slaw, Cheesy Jalopena Grits, Crunchy Sweet Potatoes and others. You will not be disappointed!

I am pretty picky about BBQ, and JDs is pretty legit. I take most reviews of BBQ places with a grain of salt as most people simply don't know good BBQ, but JDs is one that deserves a high rating. And they also tend to be consistent in quality.
Hersey's is a great Lexington style BBQ place not far from JD's (in Morganton). They do just chopped and sliced pork plus some stuff like fried chicken. All is very good though.Comment
