I am pretty picky about BBQ, and JDs is pretty legit. I take most reviews of BBQ places with a grain of salt as most people simply don't know good BBQ, but JDs is one that deserves a high rating. And they also tend to be consistent in quality.

Hersey's is a great Lexington style BBQ place not far from JD's (in Morganton). They do just chopped and sliced pork plus some stuff like fried chicken. All is very good though.

Discovered JD's Smokehouse this week. Located just off I-40 exit 113 Rutherford College/Connelly Springs. Excellent Brisket and Chopped Pork! And don't miss their sides. Red Slaw, Cheesy Jalopena Grits, Crunchy Sweet Potatoes and others. You will not be disappointed!
