Possibly the best Diner in NJ

Diners - one of the great things about living in NJ! Tops Diner in East Newark is my favorite. So many things on the menu that it’s hard to choose. Tonight I went with their "Kansas City Burger" - patty, pulled pork, bacon, onion rings, cole slaw and KC bbq sauce. I feel pregnant but it’s worth it.

Diners are one of the few things I miss about living on Long Island. That burger looks great.

That looks over the Top!! I've started to compile a list of places I need to visit and eat at once I'm retired. Not all BBQ joints but some fine dining establishments as well as diners like this might make my list.

Another classic in that area is the Tick Tock on Rte 3. Their motto, displayed under the clock on the roof, is "Eat Heavy." They mean it! http://www.ticktockdiner.com

Yeah I’ve been there. Definitely a classic! Tops is only 15 mins from my house so when I have a hankering for Diner food that’s usually where I end up.

Us too! The only thing that stinks is the ever present line.

I am a HUGE diner fan. Wide ranging menu, good food, and fair pricing. Sometimes you ponly get 2 out of of those three. When I travel for work I often ask my App for "Diner's nearby". And yes, NJ (andf acutlaly all of the metro NYC area) is a hotspot for diners.

                  Thanks for sharing.

100%!! The Tops menu is the size of War and Peace. Yuge. It’s actually hard to decide.

Yeah, there are a number around here to choose from. Bob and Edith's seem pretty good. Only been to the barnside once and it had good breakfast. They were super busy and I sat at the counter and marveled at the cooks. Need to try that one again and also another one. I go to the one in Annandale and it's really not up to my standards, though they are friendly and my kid loves the mini pizzas.
