We have had a flurry of boutique burger restaurants open in NE FL and some of them are really good. But I'm bummed I missed out on the Chili's special of $9.99 for a burger and fries while it lasted.

They still have a special called "3 for Me" for $10.99, where you choose an entree, an appetizer and a drink. It has several of the burgers including the Oldtimer as an option, and I always get the chips and salsa. No one has better thin and crispy tortilla chips than Chilis for some reason...

I just went to RR this past Thursday after our range day. The bacon cheeseburger is what I got though I was tempted to get the one with an egg on top. Was a great burger. Haven’t been to a Hooters or Chili’s in ages.

Haven't been impressed by RR, but Hooters I go for the chicken breasts. That's the ticket, chicken breasts..
I think you should include 5 Guys. For a sit down more expensive burger, I think they are the hands down winner.

I gotta say that Chili’s burger looks pretty dang good. I only go to these types of restaurants if I’m on a road trip bc in the city I live there are tons of good burger joints and these types of places are only on the outskirts of town. Next road trip I’ll look for a Chili’s

Like I mentioned above, I used to work at one of the competitors, they are local and not nationwide. But I would put an Islands Hula Burger (mushroom and Swiss) up against chilis or RR any day. Since I worked for a chain, it was my business to eat in them often. Chilis is nostalgic for me…. I was a chili-head for a minute. Oldtimer with Cheese is is go-to (and queso dip). The mushroom burger at RR is my choice or the bleu cheese (no steak sauce). Fries well done!
Never been to a hooters.

I think the Chili’s burger is surprisingly good. I haven’t been to a Red Robin in years, but that is because i thought the burger i had there was not very good. I haven’t been to a Hooters in years either. Last time i went my son was with me and he was around 14. The waitress hugged him and told him he was her new man. Messed him up; he wanted to go back every day. I think he is still looking for her - he is 27 now.Last edited by klflowers; February 16, 2025, 07:11 PM.

Love the write up and the comments. My favorite at RR is the sauteed mushroom burger. Something about the buttery mushrooms and cheese on the buttered bun is just delicious. I haven't eaten at Chili's in years. We have one in GSO so will definitely give their burger a shot. If you are doing a part II, see if you can fit Ruby Tuesday's in. I think they have the best burgers over the other (3) and you can get them cooked to order, literally medium rare if you wish. I know you aren't a salad guy PJ but if you ever lose your mind and want one, their salad bar is top notch.

Thanks Hulagn1971 Yeah, I’d like to do a Pt. 2, there’s several other places I want to try. I just checked and Ruby Tuesdays is no longer in Houston, they’re all permanently closed. 😢 And please, don’t tell anyone but I do like salads! 😳 I have one at home at least twice a week.

Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
We will be hitting up a Hard Rock Cafe Thursday; AC casino, and we don’t want to eat fancy food this trip. I’ll probably get a burger, so I’ll have something to say about it.

After not going to Chili's for years we took the kids a few weeks ago for the 3 for Me $10.99 deal. Better deal than you will get at most fast food restaurants and the bottomless chips and salsa are a definite bonus. Not the best burger you will ever have of course but for $10.99 with fries, a drink, and the chips and salsa it is one of the better deals you will find.

Hahaha, I would love to be a fly on the wall and watch you interact with people at Hooters. I bet "Kayla" (probably just her stage name, IDK asking for a friend) was a big fan of you. LOL.
