Food looks excellent, have a great time! Last time i was in LA I was on one of the highways and it took me 45 minutes to go 3 miles to get to my exit. It was brutal. That video almost makes me want to come back.
I have a cousin of whose significant other lives in LA, and he spends lots of time out there. One of the benefits of a large family. I have a standing invite...

I was pretty darn happy with this spread, that’s for sure. Sausage was juicy and cheesy and slightly spicy. Ribs were tender and had the perfect amount of “tug” to them. I would say the brisket was the best. Lookit that bend! Excellent bark.
Mac and cheese was good and creamy, not mushy like some tend to be. Slaw was rather bland, but compared to the heavily seasoned everything else, it was a welcome, cool bite.
Sauces were good. Red sauce had minimal sweetness and balance. Yellow was mustardy and spicy. I liked it better than the red.
I did not order any food. Just ate everyone else's. Learned that trick during one of the San Marcos meat-ups from Panhead John
Here we are in front. Great to meet Carolyn Carolyn and SheilaAnn's BF (is that best friend or boy friend??) Lance. theroc (Roc) and flyingpiglet (Elaine) were there too and thank you again for the ride.
BBQ was very good and look at all those briskets getting ready for tomorrow.
Favorites were the Poblano/cheese sausage and Kimchi fried rice with pork belly (which I did not get a pic of). I took a pic of the food ordered after we dug in a bit.
Here are a few more photos from our mini-meat up at Moo's. flyingpiglet, TripleB and I shared an El Trio combo with a 1/2 lb of pulled pork thrown in for good measure. Sides were some seriously good kimchi fried rice with pork belly and a cucumber salad.
The brisket was extremely tender and moist with a great bark, the high point for me. Ribs were delicious, although the meat came off the bone easily. I minor nit. As TripleB said, the chile relleno sausage was a hit.
The portions were generous . We left with plenty of leftovers.
A very friendly staff made the visit memorable. Pitmaster Aaron gave us a great tour of the cookers. The big boy with all the briskets was made in California. The smaller pits are from Lockhart. They use white oak exclusively.
The two hour drive was worth it for good food and good company. 🙂 There was a parking lot right behind the restaurant that had a 2 hour limit and cost a whopping 40 cents/ half hour. I scored a spot under a small tree, which shaded my car for the entire two hours.
I didn't take pics of my food, but you can see my tray in one of the posted images.
The pulled pork sandwich was ok. (I didn't eat the bread.) I am glad I ordered it with the slaw on the side. The slaw was bland (not tangy, not sweet, not spicy) but it had some kind of seed or something that had an odd flavor to me, and the portion of slaw would have eclipsed the pork. Is slaw on pork sandwiches and fish tacos a California thing? I never had that until I moved here.
The chili rellenos sausage was very good and spicy. I couldn't eat an entire link of it, but it was a very good snack-bite.
The macaroni and cheese was very good and creamy and was a generous portion, so I can now say I finally had a good side at a BBQ place. 🙂 The banana pudding that SheilaAnn gave me was good, and not too sweet like some I have had. It was also a generous portion and was made with very ripe bananas, which makes for good banana pudding.
The restaurant staff was friendly, and I enjoyed the tour of the pit area.
