Costco Has a Special $20. Membership For New Customers

I just ran across this special deal from Costco, for new members only. You pay the regular $65. annual fee and within 2 weeks you get emailed a $45. Costco gift card. It can be used on anything in the store. The offer is good until 12/22/2024. Here’s the scoop if you’re not currently a member…

Thanks for the heads up! I have never had a Costco membership, and the nearest one is about 40 miles from me. But I do love a good deal.

Mine is over 100 miles away. Would love to have one much closer but it will never happen in my lifetime.

Life in the big city I guess. 🤷‍♂️ In the Houston area we’ve got 10 Costco’s, 3 within a 20 minute drive of my house.

Great, just in case the stores aren’t overpacked enough this time of year, they’re looking to get a bunch of newbies to come in and wander around slack-jawed.

Just got home from a Costco in the burbs. They were really aggressively trying to sell people their credit card. I’ve had one for a few years now and would highly endorse it. Never seen them go so aggressively to sell it. I wonder if they see headwinds and are trying to get ahead of them.

I shop at Costco for pretty much everything. I've had a membership since 2005, It has always been worth it. I bought 60 pounds of pork shoulder with my rebate check, a few weeks ago.

Speaking of meat......Just got new meat for my truck Costco. No installation charge. Great service. Cheap tires too.

Ha, I am a Chevy convert. We always had Suburbans and Silverados growing up. Been pretty happy with the FISO.

GM guy here. Never been wronged. Worst vehicle I ever had was a Honda. Owned a Ford and a Nissan, no trouble. Still just prefer GM.

They were doing $20 memberships to Sam's when we left WalMart yesterday as well. I am sure it's the same, pay the full amount, then get a rebated gift card. Seems like a pretty smart way to make sure people actually come into the store to use the gift card - and, of course, spend more while they're there.

I already have memberships to both, so, I just kept on walking.

Do it! I’ve been a Costco member for decades. The Prime brisket alone pays for the membership!

Now that we're living in temporary digs which happen to be close to a Costco, I may bite. At that price it may be worth it for a few months. Unless there's a hook, requiring re-upping in a year.

          Thanks, Panhead John .

Go for it Kathryn! There’s no hook, you won’t have to renew your membership next year. And we’re all still thinking about you and your neighbors, hoping for a full recovery soon.

I did it, no strings that I saw. There is a box to check if you want to opt in for automatic renewal.

I'd love to try a Cosco, but there isn't one in the whole of little RI. Maybe some day.

You must go through the StackSocial link? What is StackSocial, and how do you redeem the offer?

I just noticed this Carolyn It looks like after you buy your membership online, they give you some type of code, and then you enter it on the Costco website. I’m thinking you would then bring your phone into a Costco service desk where they’ll issue you a card. I’m just guessing though. I’m sure they’ll give you more precise instructions once you buy the membership.

Correct. Copy and use the promo code on the Cistco website. It takes the price down to $0 at checkout.

Love Costco and although our closest is 140 miles away it’s still worth it with a little planning. Additionally our kid now lives in a big city and there are several there for us hit when we visit.

Panhead John Yeah, they are a bit nebulous. The offer is also available on Groupon, which was a little more transparent but not by much, so I went through Groupon.

It is super confusing because there is a little green redemption button, but it doesn't do anything, and there is an expiration date, which makes it look like the digital coupon will expire. The "redemption code" is just your Costco membership number.

              This is in the FAQ:
"Your Costco Gold Star Membership has been activated and is ready to use online! Incentives will be automatically delivered by Costco to qualifying members via email within two weeks of this confirmation."

The process is a little confusing, but if at the end you have a Costco membership number you should be good to go. The $45 store credit "shop card" should be emailed to you within two weeks.

And according to the website, the $45 gift card expires January 31, 2025.

Steve R. Yes, it should be an automatic thing. I was thinking I could use it to purchase pellets for my OG.

Off topic, but Costco........I found a rebate check in my desk when we moved offices last week. It was from 2015.....she was in rough shape boys. Got to the register...........the cashier was impressed and said, "Oh yeah.......these never expire, you are good." $151.67 in meat for the freezer I did not know I had in my desk!

Received the digital gift card. There isn't an expiration on it, so I can go ahead and stock up on pellets or meat.
              Thank you, Panhead John
