Meat prices may or may not be coming from around here, but the Mrs. brought these home from HEB a few days ago. I would have been happy with Nathan’s for half the price or even Bar-S for a third. My palette ain’t this bougie.

Boar’s Head has great products, but they’re not shy about asking for top dollar. How good can a hot dog be?

I’m with you on this. I have these hot dogs. They’re good but not anywhere near good enough to justify the price.

I want to try these but they are $25 per pack. However, it's said that they taste like you are eating steak.

What? $25 for 8 hot dogs? Madness.

Lotta hogs out there right now. About 10 million in the US currently. That is up quite a bit. However, things might change soon as Hylife is closing their plant. 1,200,000 head a year go through that plant. Things could get interesting. It will not make prices go nuts, but a lot of farmers are gonna need a new spot to send fat hogs in southern MN. (Second largest producer in the US behind IA)

The export market is pretty healthy for pork products............perhaps there.....

Sid P We regularly buy Boar’s Head deli products, but this surprised me.

Yeah, that’s way beyond their typical "premium" spot in the market.

That's the package price for 7 weenies so not quite what some have been thinking, but still a premium at over a buck each.

Thankfully, prices have come down on many other things as well, good to see. We're just winding up a phase of leftover usage, so I'll soon be cooking again, freeing up freezer space, and the cycle continues...

Thanks I'll take Feltmans in a natural casing for $8.00 for a package of 7 I think.

My preference will always be to find and patronize a good, local sausage maker.

Boar's Head is okay, but it's still a mass market brand, a step up from Oscar's and the like, but, in my opinion, that's about it.

I expect beef prices to be going up. Cull animals are bringing the highest prices in 2 years and we were told by the stockyard that those animals would approach 2.00 a lb (on the hoof) soon. Ya never know for sure but if I saw prime on sale, I'd load up. Our registered angus bull sale is coming up at the end of the month and will report back- although those aren't for eating but for herd improvement .
