Salt gun, with an extra kick

So I came across a CO2 powered revolver that Bug A Salt put out within the last year. But wow, it's pricey at 130+

Then I stumbled across a higher quality pistol that just so happens to accept the salt cartridges, and wouldn't ya know it? It's on sale currently on Amazon! As an extra bonus it also shoots pellets.

Crosman Vigilante, currently 52 bucks instead of 71

    The ammo, not on sale

My biggest concern with this was, what happens when Bug A Salt discontinues the cartridges, but then I found a few people using tissue paper and a gluestick to reload. A little extra work, but at least this is a possible lifetime purchase. Another reason I like the Crosman option is if I wanted to plink some cans I can do that. Though there is a fella with a how to for installing a metal barrel in the Bug A Salt gun if one so chose.

Regardless, wife is gonna kill me when she gets home and I tell her I wasn't even drinking yet when I clicked order

Well, that is a new way to apply a salt and pepper rub.

Here's a vid of it in action, skip to 2:12 for shot groupings and power

I like mine better but you have to be a great shot as it does not accept salt it just shoots pellets.

"Dammit guys, I forgot the dry brine and I need to get this meat on the smoker ASAP. What should I do? How can I get the salt to penetrate in just a couple of hours??"

I've shot kids and dogs more than I have flies as well! I am smart enough NOT to shoot at SWMBO!

jfmorris Apparently. I mail-ordered a pellet gun 12-15 years ago, so it’s a fairly recent change.

Sid P what I read was that Amazon can't ship to some zip codes because the firearm designation but Crosman still can, unfortunately this isn't at the same discount via Crosman

What you need to do is "reload" this cartridge to alternate salt and pepper in the chambers. Then you could truly use it for seasoning your meal, steak on the grill - whatever!

I was honestly thinking that's just what I would do for a silly video

It's everything I hoped for. Within 4ft if blew a hole through both sides of the large bubble packaging, at 5ft plus the salt penetrated one side in hundreds of little holes. Sadly (for the first time in my life) I'll likely have to wait a few months for the flies to come back so I learn the effective fly slaying range.

No need for salt. Got it covered.

I thought about that, but I suck at patching drywall

Man - I want one of these, but guess I will have to keep hunting flies with my first gen Bug-a-salt. I often have to double/triple tap the flies with it. Target shooting with pellets in the backyard might be nice, to avoid a trip to the range. My old Daisy and Crossman air rifles are past their prime, and not pumping up any more. Apparently they don’t sell new seals for them either….

There's a mod group for almost anything, I suspect with the right luck you could find a YouTube or forum entry with close enough part numbers and a way to mod em. I know the c02 is an extra consumable but it's also part of the reason I liked this salt shooting option over the regular bug a salt pump rifle

ItsAllGoneToTheDogs I feel that the regular Bug-A-Salt is not actually a pump gun - its spring loaded like an old Daisy Red Ryder type BB-gun. And its a weak spring at that...

Get two bricks and a fly strip and make a “fly bridge” as a classy table center piece. Sometimes you need to poke the flies when they land so their wings will stick. It’s great fun and cheap!

Since they built stables out by our house we get thousands of flys visiting each year now. Fly paper doesn't cut it. We do have a few traps outside on the corners of our lot which has helped a TON, but still get more visitors by my sliding door than I would like... next year they are getting blasted en masse!
