LESS THAT 2 WEEKS FROM THE DEVASTATING HURRICANE HARVEY in TX and LA, "Irma" now threatens the Florida Keys and southern FL in the mainland USA, not to mention Puerto Rico, Haiti, The Leeward Islands, Cuba, etc. The exact path remains to be seen in the coming days.

Folks now is a great time if you can find it in your hearts to give a little something preemptively to help OBR prepare for the work ahead of them for the good people in FL who are soon to be affected in the coming days by Irma. Hopefully it weakens, changes course, etc...but what are the odds? Usually they happen just as predicted by the pros, Harvey for instance.

Spent all day prepping etc for Irma. I'm thinking that tomorrow we may just get in the truck and drive north for quite some time.
Ive been through many hurricanes and in my previous job I would drive into them and work. This is a whole different animal, and there's really no reason to risk staying.

Waiting for info from Rick Browne, our man on the scene in Houston, but I am told they plan to pull out on the weekend and head to Florida!

Spent most of the day yesterday putting up our hurricane shutters and then my wife and I put up our neighbors shutters who left 2 days ago. We were exhausted. The work isn't so bad, it's the work in extreme humidity that wears you out. More to do today and I have to decide where to store my babies (steel keg kamado, GMG, Performer, & PBC). We are going to stay home unless Irma veers to the west, it's looking like it's heading up the east coast so far. Need to go to Costco to get some food, kamado will be used since it weighs about 400 pounds the rest head to the garage! Prayers to those on the east side and those stuck on the highways. No plywood, no water, no generators down here in Estero/Ft. Myers and Naples.

Update on Irma. Well our power was restored last week we are blessed! My brother was not so lucky as his rv was marooned surrounded by flood waters and can't get it out yet. He is now living with us until we can retrieve his rv from the swamp. My son is living here as well since he is one of the few who still has no power in Ft. Myers. I was talking to a friend who said many poor souls who live out in the sticks also known as the country may not get power for over a month or more. The are tree removal and utility workers here from all over the country helping to restore power. It's a massive undertaking. Thanks to all the great people from all over for all of their help! This country is the best!

Last I checked their site they had only posted that they were currently seeking a staging area in FL. The quickest way to find out would be to check their site regularly, contact them, or volunteer if you're able to help. Good on you!
