OK temptation got the best of me and hoovarmin offering Illuminati status got me moving. I got out my S&S travel kettle and the mini vortex. The paper towel roll, the charcoal, two weber starter cubes and the benzamatic torch! It did take five more minutes than the chimney but I think that’s a good trade-off not to have to take the chimney to the camp. So there you have it! Chimney stays in the box unless I need a full charcoal load! 🤓

I had a chicken to cook last evening so I set the Vortex on the bottom grate of the WSCG, filled it with charcoal, then lit the snap-jet for about 8 minutes. It got going nicely in 15 minutes or so and worked as designed. Thanks for the hot tips, y'all! Now, any tips on how to wind paper towels back onto a cardboard tube....?
