This is a vegetable knife, and it differs from a chef’s knife or a santoku in the way it is balanced: the top of the blade is thick from handle to tip. It is like a small cleaver.

So anyhow, of course I nipped a bit off the top of my right index finger while mincing garlic; rookie mistake, I didn’t have my fingers curled. (I’m lefty.)

Then, while cleaning it, I was trying to protect the wound and caught the tip of my right index finger on the sharp edge of the heel! Nasty gash, that one. But, I really like this knife, a lot. It has great rocking action and wonderful balance. I don’t have a problem with the Global handles getting slippery.

I think you should put the knife down and back up slowly...

Its funny how we KNOW they’re sharp and will win a battle with our fingers yet we let it happen anyway.

Ive been lucky with my knives and havent gotten any bad cuts or small ones too often. But my deli slicer blades have gotten me more than once. Both while cleaning and cutting.

Yeah - and read S King's 'Christine'. Make sure that thing isn't out for blood... It may just LOOK new.

        Nice! Perfect Halloween comment

BTW, they're remaking Pet Semetary and the trailer looks pretty good...

I have a Cutco vegetable knife. I love using it. It's an onion cutting machine.

I looked that one up, very similar principle. Great balance, very fast working. Nice! First thing I did with mine was dice an onion, I felt like I was in an onion slicing video on YouTube!

And then you cut your finger, so maybe from the darker corner of youtube. ;-)

Any time we get issued new multi-tools or field knives, at minimum 1 of the guys will cut themselves within the first 30 minutes of owning it. Glad your cuts are minor.

My wife battled my New west knife works and lost the top of a knuckle Friday night. Claims she will never touch it again

Can’t like it. Have to give it a "Ooooo."

I have touch id on my phone and ipad, can't use either because both fingers are bandaided! Have to enter the passwords. That is so '00'.

I know how frustrating that one can be!

And that is why I ordered the knife gloves off amazon. Only after I dang near cut my finger off one day cutting some tators. Lesson learned

My left index finger has two scars. The first is from when I was 10 and wanted to learn drafting. Being of modest means, I had the bright idea of trying to make a T-square using an X-Acto knife. Oh yeah! The other one is from maybe 5 years ago and resulted from the incident we call "The Revenge of the Rooster". Had something to do with spatchcocking a big capon with the wrong instrument, resulting in a flap of flesh hanging off the back of the finger. Fortunately the home "joining" operation worked.

Live and learn - I hope!

Funny, I have a scar on my right index finger from trying to use an X-Acto knife to cut a hole in the hood of a plastic model of a corvette. I thought it would make it look cool. I was probably around 10 or 11.

I used to do a lot of wood carving/whittling/ The knives I have are top notch and razor sharp.
It takes a while to learn to really whittle and guarantee a bunch of scars. Super glue truly is your friend.
Edit to include--its been a while since I've had them out but I'm thinking it might be time to go at them again. It is amazing how you can get going wood carving and burn 3 or 4 hours in what seems like 10 minutes. It is a hobby to waste away time for sure.

I have done this any times, especially with my Global Knives. Damn things are sharp.
