If I am just cooking rice as is I much prefer my rice cooker. I have about a half dozen varieties of rice on hand and the Zojirushi cooks each variety perfectly every single time with no input from me other than pressing "cook".
I've tried rice cooking in my IP and it was alright but I would have to manually find/tweak the timing for some of the rice types. No thanks.
If I am cooking a dish that just happens to include rice in the recipe - something like "speckled rice" that involves onions, spinach, chicken broth, etc. - I'll do that in a big pot with a tight sealing lid on the stovetop.
I lived in Japan for four years and learned that while cooking rice on the stovetop isn't very tricky there is a good reason that almost all Japanese use rice cookers (some rice cookers tho do incorporate a builtin pressure cooker).
