That has been my m.o. for purchasing rifles and scopes. I think it would apply to cookers and thermometers.

I thought I had a good excuse to buy one of these, because I could not get my Smoke Bridge to work. I have finally figured out that what I have to do is write a bad review, then it works and I have to go back and change my review. It's worked twice now. Working great again, but the Fireboard still has a much better app.

Brain says, "don’t need, don’t need, don’t need" (I have V1)....heart says "gotta have, gotta have, gotta have..". So, of course, pre-ordered.

I need another thermometer like I need another cooker, but is this what will finally make me spring for a FB? Hmmm...

Decision finally made for me. This will be the next thermometer attached to my PBC.

what other thermometers have you attached to PBC?

Father's Day is coming...I think I'm ordering a Drive. I don't need 6 probes that I know of on my BGE, but I'm sure I can make use of them. Maybe one for outdoor temp.

Our Bill McGrath received one of these the other day, so his review will be out soon.

Huskee Thanks...I'll sit tight just to see how it rolls out.

Noob question, do any probe work on any thermometer? I have two probes that came with my Thermoworks Smoke, if I buy this and plug them in will it just workâ„¢?

The answer is, not necessarily. Some probes are proprietary.

99% chance no, makers want you to buy their probes. Plus, some might be thermocouple while others are thermistor, even though they may look the same.

Also note that Fireboard uses several types of probes, Thermister (10K or 100K) or RTD. You have to set the probe type you are using for each port. You can read about them here: https://www.fireboard.com/probes/

My Drive 2 also arrived today, a day earlier than expected. Can't wait to put it through its paces. I've had a Pit Viper for years now, works great with the Drive 2. Love the ability to create Drive Programs.

Got mine last Wednesday. I got the Drive version. I charged it. I attached my PitViper fan, and cooked a brisket for 9 hours. Still has about 3/4 battery life left. VERY impressive.

I'm very happy with it so far!

First use of the Fireboard V2 was a brisket. Ran it for 14 hours, and only used 25% of the battery.
Second use though, made my wife glad that she bought it for me.

Her step father has had a severe infection in his arm. He's on the mend, but he has to do antibiotic IVs 3 or 4 times a day. The IV pouch has to come to room temp before use. That takes about an hour and a half. So by the time they do the last treatment and wind down at 11pm, MIL has to get up at 4 or 4:30 am to get the pouch out to warm up before six. Supposed to do this for the next 4-6 months.

We filled a bowl with ice, added a tennis ball to account for the size of the pouch, and used the fireboard to monitor how long it would take the ice to melt, and then get to room temp. With the right amount of ice, it can take 7-8 hours to get to room temp. So we were able to chart the ice melt, and the house temp. Mother in law was SUPER impressed with the graph. (I don't think she would have believed us otherwise) and now, can get a solid 7+ hours of sleep.

Fireboard has reasonably given my MIL the opportunity to sleep 4 extra hours a night, every night, for the next several months. That alone is worth the price.... and I get a new BBQ toy.
