Yes, the amount of probes is the only difference. I was stupid and talked myself into the cheaper one... now I am buying more probes. lol. I'm a techie, though, so I want ultimate monitoring capability. lol

Pro: It sounds good in theory (and by "theory", I mean wistful thinking on the part of the developer)
Con: The laws of physics say, "Nope!"
Depending on the number of channels you think you're going to need, go with either the ThermoWorks Smoke (my favorite 2-channel thermo) or with the Fireboard.
OK, I will be the voice of dissent. I have 2 Meaters and they work great for me. And no, I am in no way connected with the company. Is my setup as versatile as a Fireboard? No, almost certainly not. But it works very well for my setup.
The trick is to have some older device, I use an old cell phone, that I keep outside next to my BGE (in a ziplock bag when it is raining) to connect to the Meaters. Then set up Meater Link to share the probe info across my home WiFI to all the other devices that I have the app running on. So, depending on where I am I can check my cooks on my phone, my iPad, or even my watch. Until these things break, I am a happy smoker
