My old Fireboard finally died and I am wondering if the new Typhur wireless would be a good replacement vs a new Fireboard 2. Does anyone have any experience with or knowledge of the Typhur?

I don't have any experience with this thermometer, I have a Meater that works OK but I generally use my SnS-500. A wireless probe is nice though, especially if using a rotisserie.
I'm glad the title is an autocorrect mishap. I was thinking any food related cooking accessory or company named Typhus is probably doomed to fail.

I will be posting a review of my new Fireboard2 drive soon. However I have no experience with the original, so I can't offer a comparison. Nor do I know anything about Typhur. My first cook with it was this Monday.
I used to be a product manager and I am a rather critical user of any kind of equipment. While I do have a list of suggestions and complaints, overall I am impressed. Definitely a well thought out product with a good degree of maturity. I have two of the Predictive Thermometers so the Fireboard is primarily for fan control.
The ability to make notes during the cook is really nice, especially as I learn the fan tweaks. I was making 3 Pastramis so I had both PT's plus on the FIreboard I had one meat probe and one pit probe.
Two of the three are going to get finished with Sous Vide. The first will be finished off as the last Pastrami on Rye tonight.
If you have specific questions about the Fireboard2 feel free to reach out.
And, I recommend signing up for the Pitmaster Club. Many benefits including the possibility of prizes, which is how I got this Fireboard2!

FYI - Fireboard also has a wireless thermometer now..... the Fireboard Pulse. I have two of them. They work very well and they integrate with the Fireboard 2. I'm very happy with mine.... love that it works seamlessly with their app which has always been a good experience.

We got the Typhur Sync Gold 2 probe version just before Christmas. Not a lot of use so far, but very happy. The base unit communicates with the probes using a low frequency method. We cooked a Turkey in the BGE at Christmas and I played around a little. With the probes in out BGE in our back yard, the base unit communicated with the probes when I walked out the front door to the other side of the street . . . no problem. Similarly, with the base unit next to the BGE, my Bluetooth tablet communicated with the base unit from the other side of the street. It has wifi capability, but I haven't seen the need.
The one thing I like the most is that you can set-up your cook using the base unit only, no need to fool around with a phone.
My only minor complaint is that the probes are a bit thicker than most.
Oh, and they are completely waterproof, so I now know the temperature in our crock pot on high, medium, and low (AKA useless information)
