Good to see more competition in the market. For me, the FB is the best solution given the gateway already connects to WiFi (most stable I’ve ever owned).
I do have a TempSpike(gift) and a MEATER (thx SS 😀). They are both sensitive to my phone being “close” to the gateway. I will say, after using wireless, I can’t imagine going back to the wired versions, so much simpler and cleaner. Plus I use my rotisserie more and more.
Your RFX GATEWAY is about to become a portal to a whole new world of wireless cooking. We’ve future-proofed RFX so you’ll be able to connect our suite of forthcoming compatible products without buying a whole new system.
Hmm, I wonder if that means in will work with the Smoke X2 and X4? I have the original Smoke and love having both the remote display and the Gateway to connect it to the Internet. The Smoke X2 and X4 don't have a way to connect to the Internet... yet.
Looking at the info available and the pics on the website, this talks to the standard ThermoWorks app on your phone, like the Smoke and the Signals. So, you could run them at the same time and see them displayed concurrently on your phone.
Saw the release notice & info on FBX today, been reading up on FB Pulse. Was hoping for pre production review, assessment & comparison of the two from Bill McGrath. Is it planned?

Current cookers Weber Spirit 3 burner with a full insert griddle added. A 22" Kettle with vortex, SnS and a Smokey Joe. The most recent addition is a Pit Barrel Jr with bird hanger, 4 hooks and cover. ThermoWorks Smoke 2 probe, DOT, 2 ThermoPops and a Thermapen MK4. A Thermoworks RFX Gateway 2 probe meat thermometer.
GAS got the better of me: I went ahead and ordered the 4-probe set. They had a promo with PayPal for 4 interest free payments which just pushed me over the edge. That basically eats up my fun money for the next two months, but what else is fun money for?
I should have it by the middle of September. I'll use it immediately and post my own review after a few different cooks. I figure I'll do rotisserie chickens, a smoked pork butt, something braised, and maybe something deep fried..

KitchenAid 7-qt Pro Line stand mixer
A Black & Decker food processor that I can't seem to murder
A couple of immersion blenders, one a "consumer" model & the other a "high end" Italian thing. Yes, the Italian one is a bit better, but only marginally

All-Clad pots & pans, along with some cast iron...everything from 7" Skookie pans to 8.5qt Dutch ovens
Weber GBS griddle, pizza stone, and wok

When I first saw these, I kinda figured it was cool…but not something that I REALLY needed. I mean, I already have a great bunch of leave in thermometers. ThermaQ, ThermaQ wifi, Signals…yeah, pretty much have all the bases covered. I even have a little ring thing so that I can use a wired probe with a rotisserie. Not elegant but it works.
And then I found out these can be used in a deep fryer, and sous vide, and can withstand up to 1000°. Wait, what now?
So that got me and I ordered the 4-probe set. LOL
Looking forward to seeing how they work…but knowing Thermoworks, I’m sure they’ll meet my expectations.
I just pulled the trigger on the Thermoworks Wireless RFX Probe Starter Kit (2 probe) thinking it’s practically designed for the thick steel of my Yoder 640. My other test will be for rotisserie cooks. I look forward to sharing my the results of my first cooks with it.
Well, ThermoWorks is a month late shipping the RFX kits because of some FCC stuff but they're making it up to us with a free carrying case. That's pretty cool.
Yup, got the same message - really stoked to get 'em and see how they compare to the new Fireboard Pulse. FB just notified me that my order from them has shipped.
Yep, got the same message. I’m sure I’ll find another use for the case…seeing as I purchased one specifically for the RFX set that I ordered. Naturally it arrived a month ago. LOL
