Yeah, I think I'm going to have a GAS flare-up at the end of the month.

RFX Meat: Thermoworks unveils its first wireless meat thermometer (girlscangrill.com)

Interesting. I would use this on the rotisserie for sure.

      Great info, thanks!

The specs on this thing are just incredible.

Wow! They are coming out in the same time frame as Fireboard looks like. Good to know, but the price is not stated yet. If its less than $149, I'll be considering it.

Interesting. I noted this comment about price: "Right now, it looks like the price point, they said, will be comparable to the other wireless thermometers out there on the market. They said it will be less than $300, but it will be more than $100." No indication how many probes and/or if the gateway device is included.

I also note that even though it uses RF to get more range, it still needs a gateway device (as just about every other wireless probe uses) to talk to the App on your phone. So, CI uses what they call a Display, Typhus uses their own gateway, Meater uses their own gateway and FB will uses their existing Fireboard boxes.

I'm sure we'll all have fun dissecting the specs when everyone's new toy is out there!

The fact that the FB device will show on the same app as the wired probes may be the deciding factor for me. And price.

Bogy based on the images on the ThermoWorks website, the app for this will show RFX probes as well as wired probes. One of the pics very clearly shows several RFX probes with a Signals also on the screen.

PGH_RAM To be honest, I lost enthusiasm for ThermoWorks when they sent out an update for the Bridge for my Smoke. Without the update you could not connect to the updated app. My Bridge would not accept the update. I sent the Bridge to ThermoWorks for them to update. Still didn't work. At least the Bluetooth still works, and I hope ThermoWorks has improved their wifi, but FireBoard has been working for me.

Can't wait for this one. The one thing I hate about the probes on my Smoke X4 is washing the probes. I hate trying to get the cables clean. and touching them when they are dirty. So the wireless probes will be nice.

I agree, this is the worst thing about wired thermometers - not even dealing with the wires! I don't mind the wires themselves, it's the DIRTY wires that are a PITA! lol

If I were to purchase wireless probe setups, it would be because I hate trying to clean the cables.

I limit the amount of dirty wires by wrapping in aluminum foil. To clean I use alcohol soaked paper towel. Cleans up pretty easy.

If I read the posting right, the basic set also has an ambient probe, just not shown.

Yes the basic set up does come with an ambient probe. Thermoworks states that an ambient probe is the only way because sampling pit temps at the heel of the probe is where evaporation can give false readings.

Pricey. I have the Combustion at $200 and it's at the far end of affordability for one. Can't imagine buying a set.

I will have to consider these, maybe, due to them not using Bluetooth.

I'm sure this will be top notch knowing Thermoworks. If I was willing to spend $350, I would at least wait till released, reviewed and general feedback from users. In the meantime, I'll continue with my Smoke 2 probe, DOT and 3 TempSpikes.

Knowing Thermoworks, this will probably be regularly discounted, but we shall see how far. I can’t pull $350, especially before knowing how effective it is.

I really like that they are not even trying to do wireless ambient so close to the meat! The transmitter comes with a wired ambient probe and connects to billows! Already a winner in my book, but we shall see once it’s in action.

It is not $350 unless you add 3 meat probes. It is $160, which is 1 food probe, 1 ambient probe and the receiver. Extra food probes are $90 each.

Makes sense. I was just thinking for the whole set since I would prefer just to have a bunch of probes for the thing.

Saw the tiny print that said the Gateway can handle up to 70 probes.....................impressive overkill!
