What are your 2020 hopeful outdoor kitchen - cooking purchases

    Items for 2020.

I am slowly warming up to a sous vide, But, my hoped for 2020 purchases are, a 26 weber charcoal, I would get rid of one of my weber 22 kettles if I got this, a 6 qt stand mixer, and an area of our patio cleared up and blocks taken out so I can put in a stainless table and move my refrigerator with prep station over to that area as well, also add electricity to that area and maybe even a sink this year.... although the sink part may wait. i would love a hard topped built on the spot gazebo, but, I think that is a few years away still. Those are the planned at least.

I need to buy a new gas grill for my vacation house. The cart portion of the existing "stainless steel" one is rusting out and starting to collapse.

I have outdoor renovations planned for the spring.

24x16' patio area with a corner of it being a outdoor kitchen/bar. Going to do a pavilion cover over it as well with electric. Going to have to get some buddies to help on this one. Would like to get a mounted gasser.

Wellll...maybe a Fireboard system. (I have the Thermoworks Smoke which works well. I don’t need but might enjoy WiFi connectivity.) Would love to upgrade my Weber 22” to a 26”. Is Santa online?

I have been eyeing the fireboard. I think highly of the smoke, but have heard mix reviews on the signals.

The biggest thing I am now looking forward to is the fact that my kids will all have their own houses, and I can clear out half of the collection of 6 cookers cluttering up my back yard! No way I could bring something else in for myself with all that out there!

For a long time I had thought I wanted a pellet smoker, but having the PartyQ to control my charcoal fire has influenced me that my next purchase will likely be charcoal smoker of some sort, either a WSM 22" or a UDS build. Was thinking PBC, but I literally NEED a cooker than can cook at least 6 to 8 pork butts at once.

I have the 22wsm. I see benefits to young or very busy families for the pellet grill, but for me, trying to slowing down my life a bit, and engaging more with effort-outcome, I am pretty happy with the 22wsm, I bought my 22 wsm used this year with wheels, and hinge, but factory door. I thought I would replace the door, but right now I see no need. It works, just adjust a bit for the leaks.

Very cool about the ability to give some of your cookers away.

Richard Chrz one cooker I am giving to my daughter. The other two that will leave are my son and son in laws grills, stored at my house while they live in apartments that don’t allow grills.

Those are beauties. But keeping them fed would cost a small fortune out here in SoCal. That wood doesn’t just grow on trees ya know! LOL

I imagine they could go through a fair bit of wood... Not sure how long a 50lb box would last, given that I’ve never owned that type of smoker.

Yeah, once they are heated, they are really efficient. Plus, I have plenty of Oak, Cherry and Apple to choose from in the north land. They call this area " The Big Woods". However, I would bet it would cost a small fortune down in So Cal where you have little access to trees like that. surfdog

Thinking of selling my backyard Jambo and purchasing an outdoor oven and a shelf/table combo working platform.

IF, actually I should say, IF the patio gets overhauled next summer then I will be looking at building some sort of pit. More info to come.

Well hopefully some pictures to come. I love seeing peoples pits, cookers, cooking areas.. etc.. I have a big IF on building a gazebo or square style 12 x 15 or 15 x 15 as well. Just other things I think need to happen, I just jumped in this game this year, and my bride had to see A LOT of stuff come in out house. LOL It just does not seem to stop on wants. LOL

I am looking at something along these lines, as I have always wanted some sort of brick/block pit.

SmokeFire EX4 on pre-order...if I buy anything else substantial for outdoor cooking I’ll probably get served papers.

Finishing up in the outdoor kitchen is the biggest thing, so building in the remaining cookers, and finishing the cabinets out there. I'm also envisioning expanding the pavers I put in for the pizza oven so that I can have a bigger pad for existing cookers like my kettles or maybe even something new. I'm going to build a shelf for a microwave in the outdoor kitchen too.

Also I think the Artisan Kitchen Aid would probably be nicer it was a pro version. I'm going to want some more magnetic strips for my growing knife collection.

Sometimes I think about upgrading my cookware.

I might try to work on a better spice cabinet.

Weber 26. My best cooks seem to be on my Weber 22 but it seems I always run out of room. Thought about getting a second 22 but I just want a 26!!

              Get the 26 and don't look back. I started with a 26 and thought I needed a 22 for backup and I wish I would have bought a 2nd 26. Get the 26...and a SnS.

She will kill me, but the American Barbeque Systems All-Star and Rottiserie models have been really making me think hard since I saw one in person.

2020 will be filled with my Christmas gift Camp Chef Woodwind WiFi 24. I have lurked on pellets since the Smoke Pro DLX was NEW. FINALLY pulled the trigger.

+For the original poster, Sous Vide is a great tool for someone who cares about their food. I use it to be able to get quality weeknight meals on the table and fast. Since you are a pitmaster club member, i'll assume you love food projects, so for me I use the sous vide to use great ingredients and fresh foods to create dinners that have all of the benefits of packaged food for weeknight dinners. All it takes is some planning, and you can have great meals that only have to be seared ready to go for your family and friends. That being said, taste and texture-wise, I prefer standard methods to sous vide.
