    Old Fashioned Pyrex Bowls

Who else has a full or even partial set. My mom gave these to me when I got my first apartment....Circa 1986...Yet I remember these bowls sometime around kindergarten or thereabouts.

I know SheilaAnn has a set. Anyone else?

They are indeed the best all around bowls for just about anything.

I’ll have to get a set of those put together for the wife. They aren’t that uncommon in the resale shops and antique malls I check for cast iron.

It’s not a Pyrex but it’s as old as I am and it’s my favorite mixing bowl. My mother gave it to me 25 years ago or so.

It’s marked on the bottom 3 1/2 QT, Heat Proof, USA, and there is an F in a shield.

I'm leaning toward Corelle. Many looked very similar, but I could not find an exact match on Google. But then what would the F stand for?

A quick google search landed me on Federal Glass Company in Columbus Ohio. Apparently went out of business in 1979.

That F might possibly be for "Fire king". ? Great kitchenware and is very collectable.

I don’t have any, but I grew up with something similar to what ssandy_561 has. We had that drab green and a brown looking Pyrex style bowl set…My parent’s may have 1-2 left!

Can't wait, I'll be back too. I think we must be sisters from another mother, or whatever that saying is. I love the old stuff.

It’s interesting what some of the older stuff is worth. My MIL had a pretty large collection of antique hand mixers. I was amazed at what they brought in the estate sale.

I remember my mother having at least two: the yellow and turquoise ones. I’m not sure what happened to them. I hope my sister has them.

I think we have two sets of these bowls, one came from my wife’s aunt and the other from a garage sale. We still use them most every day. I am sure my mother had a set as well.

My daughter runs a vintage shop and my wife is always on the look out for things like this to send her.

Apart from some old cast iron I inherited from my Grandmother, he only vintage cookware I have is a Magnalite roaster.

                      They're Mayan. They're wood.

I have a ton. For anyone who read the Meat Up update, I'm not going, but rather going to a very sad funeral this week. I won't leave until Wed, so this weekend I am doing my distraction habit of cleaning and cooking. Doing a little kitchen pantry rearranging, I'll be back with photos. I know I have two of the big yellow bowls (we called "Bob", big old bowl, when we were kids), and the red one that has nearly all the color washed off it. My mom had the set, as did my grandmothers and everyone else, so I've been handed down a bunch and these remain. Also a pinkish bowl, some casserole dishes, I'll drag them out and photo later. Will be back.

I can probably beat a lot of those in age, as I have mixing bowls that belonged to my grandmother, and probably date back into the 1920's to 1940's - she got married in 1928, and the age of 21. I'll have to snap some pics later. Gotta get out the door to church now.

Sadly, we used to have a full set (inherited and gifted), but lost them all during the Northridge earthquake in '92. Now we only have some measuring cups and a warmer tray that someone gave us as a gift. Most of our bowls now are Tupperware or knock-offs.
