Ditto what everyone here says! Nice collection! Cooking with cast iron is one half the reason I go camping. BIFL

Hopefully not of the backpacking the mountains variety!

That would be quite the workout. Hiking up a mountain carrying a 20 pound Dutch oven.

Heh, heh, my dutch oven camping stays at the bottom of the mountain, by a river. Freeze dried stuff for top of mountain camping.

EdF Here's the food for mountain camping. Sometimes it's about the ambiance, not the food.

Y'all jus' set a compass upside yer' 'puter area...
When anything/anybody with a load of iron comes near ya', like, it will cause th' needle to deviate...
Watchin' that will tell ya' of th' proximity...
Takes a lil' practice, but th' science/math is sound, an' proven...

Anytime I come across an old piece of black iron at an antique store, I always "ring" check it, and if it is solid, it is usually sold, especially the old griswalds

I have about 15 pieces, including a Griswold 10" skillet cover which my father had since 1934. The square fry pan is my favorite, I only use it for cornbread. My dutch ovens are small by comparison.

I am like you brother. I have very few pieces, but what I do have was handed down by the ole Grandma, from her mama. I have about 4 pans of various sizes of Wagner pans. They are my heart and soul with cooking.

and you cant beat how smooth the finish is on the older irons. lots of soul in there I bet. think of the meals that have been cooked with love in those skillets (and how many time she threatened your grandpa wit it too!)

Ha brother! I think about that every single time I cook. I have one very old worn Wagner that I bought off of eBay years ago. I wish it could speak!

Here's Daisy and some Jalapeno Cornbread that #1 made. Daisy's a BSR from the late 60's

Looks Awesome! I'm guessing you don't need to cover it when doing it in the oven?

This is killing' me. My wife won't have cast iron because it's too heavy for her to lift, and I've never wanted to have stuff in the kitchen that only I used. But now I'm reconsidering. Maybe I could keep in the garage!
