I like to use a grill rescue brush to clean my grill grates. It’s a yellow kevlar sponge 🧽 on a red handle. The steam does a great job and the retained heat in the grill grates is complementary to the steaming. It works well on both sides. You can use warm water so it doesn’t shock your grates You can get them on Amazon or at most hardware stores. The refill without the scraper is $15. I think the original one i got was $30 and it had a scraper which I don’t use. 🔥🔥🐿️

At the end of the season before putting everything to bed I use a 4" abrasive wheel on a drill to clean out the valleys and any other baked on schmutz. Low effort and works great.
