    PitCast 100th Episode - Jerod, Spinaker & Meathead Round Table - March 29, 2018

Well, right off the bat I need to apologize to Huskee for totally blowing his invite to the party,..I mean, every good idea for this Pitcast has come from him...and he suggested doing a panel for this episode...and I FORGOT to send him the invite...not sure why...but I sure didn't do it on purpose and I amtotally embarrassed. However, I will make it up on the 2 year anniversary episode coming at #104.

Meathead , Jerod Broussard and Spinaker join me to talk about how the Pitcast has progresses, what some of their fave moments have been, we talk cast iron skillets and make suggestion on how to grow the listener-ship of this gem. So, HAPPY 100 to all the listeners...thanks for allowing me to produce this for you and ENJOY!!

I really enjoyed these guys' show and definitely would not have brought much improvement to it. It was great as is!

I don't agree with Spinaker though. I often think they're too short. (I'm sure that's not necessarily what he thinks, just an idea of his to get more listeners.) Anyway, all of a sudden you say "And for a last question before we wrap up..." and I inevitably think What? Already? No, keep it going man let's hear more!

Oh, sure, for a guy who wasn’t invited, and didn’t have much to bring to the table, you have enough to say Huskee. I agree to short, there is a treasure trove in them thar hills. 😎 👍

That title would look great printed on one of those boxing championship belts. We need a photo of that belt on Spinaker, with his arms stretched up in the sky :-)

      Greg,

Good episode. I get caught in that trap of getting busy with work and not having a chance to listen to the pit cast as much as I want...

I think a blurb or caption about what all was covered in the show would be great. I have recommended to Clint (for what now seems to be the extinct video series) that giving notice to the pit members about upcoming interviews and allowing them to submit some questions would be awesome... especially on a topic based interview... which leads to my next thought... it is nice getting to know folks but I really like some of the topic based discussions and interviews you do on the other side as well... the PB roundtable was awesome and I look forward to future ones...

Great thought. I actually have a new interview coming up with Melissa Cookston and would love to see if anyone has any questions they'd liked asked!

Great idea Nate. We'll work on this. I think Greg & I can work together too for the same thing with the PitCast. For instance BBQCentralShow if you know several days in advance of recording who you'll be recording, we can make an announcement here before you record, and maybe someone has a question they'd like to ask this person and those can worked into the interview. Then it can be a little more 2-way.

A great way to improve this great thing! Great idea Nate!

I also like the topic-based ones as well. A little less than getting to know the people, but I do like the idea of more of those. What I thought was brilliant was getting 3 members whom we've heard interviews from already, and getting them to do the topic-based round table. Then we can skip much of the 'about me' details and get to the 'what I do' details.

        Greg,

Great pitcast again! And I burn sticks. and sous vide. So I will not jump into that fray. I have learned so much from the pit members and amazing ribs. Well worth the yearly price of admission!
Thanks for adding a great dimension to the experience!
Meathead, Jerod and Spinaker - really enjoyed your show!
        Thanks Again!

Great show BBQCentralShow Meathead Spinaker Jerod Broussard .
I also find it hard, time wise, to sit down and listen to a whole segment at one time. So if possible giving the pit members a heads up as to what the show will be about would be helpful.
Nate Huskee . You guys are onto something good here.
Greg I know it’s hard sometimes to lock in an interviewer a head of time. But if you can, having other pit members throw out questions would be really cool.

Keep us in the loop guys.
          Again great show.

Anyone could make this. It’s just a bbqdragon and their insanity chimney bolted to two grates, one of which is the grate from the Weber master touch 22” with the center hole. Weber set that grate up for a wok etc, but this is hotter and more centrally focused.

Nice setup. I immediately thought of the BBQ Dragon & chimney when Meathead talked about wok-king on a chimney. You've really put it together!

Also. Frying outside is pretty much the only way to go.

Easy to do with straight charcoal and the SNS.

Jerod Broussard Spinaker Wow guys that was an Awesome Pitcast! You touched on a few topics, didn't get too deep in it and kept it conversational and funny!! Jerod, you sound almost like I thought only more accent than I figurered, what do I know anyway.

One said "Kraine boo Leigh" and that other Jerod had right. Spinaker says "Like" like a local SoCal boy.

Meathead I beg to differ. Some of us cook fried chicken a lot. A whole heck of a lot. But I guess I don't mind that smell wafting down the hall into the bedrooms with the visions of fried chicken thighs dancing in my head. I also cook it in my CI pan and not Dutch oven as it has more surface area..

That was for sure a great listen and I appreciate Ya'all taking the time. Huskee now you have the whole show #104 yo yourself. Perhaps a live bourbon tasting. Maybe you can give the recipe for"Huskee ribs?" Lol.
way to come up with all the great ideas brother!!

for me I don't mind the length of the pitcast one bit.

Greg my issue is simply just putting on the headphones and drowning out the family. I don't mind but they do, especially Sophia.

It is a goal of mine to get through all of them and I love that being a member means that I have them on the bench ready to go at any time.

          fanastinc work everyone!!
          peace out!

I would never even dream of 'puttin on earbuds/headphones, when I was married...
One might safely say, after careful rumination on how to broach this subject, that one could find oneself in quite th conundrum/dilemna.
            YMMV!
            Or, as I postulate, NOT!

Agree with the comment on Pit Cast length. I don't find them too long at all personally...

          #15
One comment that I did want to make, perhaps someone touched on it already, is to vary the content. In other words it seems like its always the same format; i.e tell us about yourself, what cookers do you have, if you had all of Meathead's money, who would you like to hang out with, etc. Now don't get me wrong they are all good questions, but like grocery store product display, if you don't very the placement or content, the buyer becomes bored whether he realizes it or not. Just my brain fart for the day...
