    Cookin' gadgets

We all have little things in the kitchen that we use without a thought, but someone else might find these things useful too. They don't have to be life changing - just something you find helpful in the kitchen. If this has been done before, it's been long enough that I have forgotten. But the older I get, the shorter my memory is, (amongst other things... ).

I'll start off with two things that we use frequently:

Almost every time I cook something that might boil over, I grab my Kochblume. It contains the foamy stuff that normally drips down the side of a pot preventing a big mess. (Cheaper ones have become available since I bought mine.)

I found these shakers on Amazon looking for some that would shake or pour. Nothin' super special about these, but they get the job done. The top has four positions: closed, pour, fine shake and course shake. It does a good job with kosher salt.

If you have something that you think others might find useful, post 'em up.

My olive wood salt pig. I use this multiple times a day, and can't imagine my life in the kitchen without it.

Stainless steel chopsticks... bought 'em for the occasional Asian meal around here, but use 'em more for cooking and especially on the grill or even to save the day around the house. Something fall through the cooking grate no other tool will reach? Chopsticks. They are perfect bacon flippers inside or outside. Something stuck in a bottle? Chopsticks. That hard to clean strip behind the sink/oven? Wrap a rag around the tip of... Chopsticks! (depending on what you're cleaning, regardless of the rag you might wanna use the disposable chopsticks)

We also keep some of the wood disposable ones around and I use those when planting peppers, to make the seed hole and then provide some stability until they grow too tall to be aided by the stick. They're pretty handy for lots of random stuff, even fetching your wedding ring that you somehow dropped down the drain

I bought some titanium ones a ways back. I concur with your assessment that they are a most versatile tool.
