Here’s what I use. Works pretty well. Got mine for under $20 at Tractor Supply just last month. Amazon price is nuts. Behrens Galvanized Steel Can with Locking Lid 6 Gallon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000RNDR3W..._OhBPFbZQZM3XGLast edited by Texas Larry; November 6, 2020, 02:36 PM.

I bought the ten gallon version of this and I really like it. Just the right size to leave under the PK. But I went to buy another on off of Amazon and it was unavailable. I need to do some looking at a hardware store based on what you all are saying.

I have a Behrens, but then I tend to hang out at feed stores! Not sure what size, but like mrteddyprincess it hangs perfectly below the ash hole of the PK360. I also have an old metal five gallon paint can, not sure if they make those anymore or not. I use it for ash from the firebox (wood stove)

If you live in the Upper Midwest try Farm and Fleet or Fleet Farm. They have 10 gallon to 31 gallon galvanized cans with locking lids at very reasonable prices. For bird seed storage it is true they are squirrel proof but they are not raccoon proof (someone must have given them instructions on how to unlock the lids !). I use surplus 20MM ammo cans for that purpose.

I just use a galvanized can/lid I got at Home Depot. Cheap and if something happens to it it's easily replaced.

I use a $0.50 foil pan from Costco. Dump the spent coals in, fill with water from the garden hose. Let sit for 24 hrs, drain the water, then in the trash pan and all. Works for me. 🤷â€â™‚ï¸

I use a generic metal trash can with a lid. I don’t put hot ash in it unless it has a good layer of old ash at the bottom. Even then, I rarely mess with hot ash.

My reasoning is, while learning to use my new offset stick burner, LSG, if I need to cool it down a bit I can just removed some hot coals etc. I will need someplace to put it. Also when removing ash at the end of the cook. A little different from a kettle. It's really impractical to remove coals from a kettle. You close down the vents. But with a stick burner, you control the heat by your fire size/build. So if needed, I can shovel out some coals or add some back in if needed.
i hope I'm not over thinking this. I'm just trying to get really ready for when it arrives.
I'm to excited. LOL
