I picked one up after using my father’s pellet cooker. A little too light of a smoke profile for my tastes.
The tube resolved much of that. I’ve also used it to smoke cheese & nuts...no fear of ramping the heat too high with that. All in all, not a bad thing to own...and relatively inexpensive are far as grill toys go.

But I too am curious about the lack of smoke in your current setup...
I’d still recommend getting one, for cheese & the like if nothing else. But I’d also be inclined to see if we can’t address the smoke profile without additional gadgets.

This is an old thread that talks about getting clean smoke with a kamado. Good reading and it does work!

I mentioned in another thread that I use a smoke pot to insure that I get the best smoke on a cook that can possibly be done. People wanted to see what this smoke

A smoke pot is for clean smoke, which will make the food taste less smoky. It won’t help if your food isn’t smoky enough. What charcoal and wood chunks are you using...source, type, quantity? Have you tried adding more wood chunks or wood from a different source?

I use lump charcoal and wood chunks. I'm slowly increasing the ration of wood to charcoal. Right now I'm burning about 30% wood. It smokes well (clean but visible)) early. Later in cooks though it will only produce visible smoke when after I've opened and thus increased the air flow.

I have one. For long slow cooks I use my kamado. I have used the tube for cold smoked cheese. I also will put in on my gas grill for a quick smoke on something like mushrooms or cabbage.
