Shake It (like a Polaroid Picture)!

Hello folks! Anyone have a recommendation for were to get shakers for rubs? I am just looking for inexpensive ones that can accommodate a decent about of seasoning, and that have appropriately sized holes for coating properly, evenly, efficiently, but not getting too plugged up (yada yada...).

Where I live, there seems to bee very little available, for some reason. I'm sure there must be cheap plastic ones available online somewhere (anyone see the ones Aaron Franklin uses in the Master Class?). What are you guys using?

    Thank you!!!!

I always re-use commercial seasoning and rub shakers as I use them up. My faves are the large Tone's seasonings ones, Henrik's "Hank's" bottles, and Heaven Made Products'. I have never actually bought shakers other than s&p.

+1 for large Tone's spice shakers with the bigger holes

A quick search on the interwebs yielded: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=rub+shake...nb_sb_ss_i_1_9

However if i didnt save old ones i have also used tupperware style protein shake bottles but in recent years at least with the stuff i make. I store it in a ziplock bag or if making alot in a vacuum sealed bag and just use a big soup spoon to dispense what i want. Bag stores easily enough wherever i want to keep it.

I got a couple of these from a local restaurant supply store - I think they were around a buck each:

Like Huskee, I also use old commercial seasoning jars when I remember not to chuck them.

I do the same, but dress them up a bit. Take off the old store label, glue, etc and put my label on.

+1 on this... heck I don't even use bulk all the time.... I will keep big batches of rub I make in some size of mason jar and then put them in a small shaker as I need them... (sometimes)… or just use my fingers to sprinkle it.

My daughter bought me these from World Market. I make big batches of rub and transfer them to these. The slide on the top has different size holes that comes in handy. Also, my wife writes with a marker on the outside and when washed in the dishwasher, the marker comes off and I can use it for a different rub.

I buy them on Amazon. They are cheap and come with press on seals for when I sell them or at charity auctions. Come 6 to a box with red lids.

              This is awesome, thank you!
For some reason this stuff is often less or un available in Canada. Or (if you can find it at all), much more expensive.

I bought these off amazon a long time ago and am pretty happy with them....

..but to be perfectly honest, the old plastic ones from commercial seasonings are just as good and for all purpose free.

Those have the same lids as mine. I really like them because of the different sizes on the openings. I keep my big rubs in something that Huskee and smokin fool described. I often use those for big meat. However, I like these for rubs that might be a bit lumpier and/or for adding an ingredient in small quantities. An example - I never put brown sugar in my main rub. If I use something that calls for brown sugar, I transfer it to the smaller container and mix my main rub with it.

I like the one that fzxdoc posted in another thread. It’s still in my cart waiting it’s turn.

That looks fairly awesome, actually!! I’m totally interested. Are they really $26 per shaker?

I’m a cheaper muck than smokin fool & not as creative as Huskee or others. I use a mason jar for my rubs and sprinkle/spread the rub with a soup spoon, tapping it as I go. Works fer me.🕶

I use something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Great-Credent...9217976&sr=8-2

You can probably find them at any restaurant supply store. Decent size holes that don't clog and they are 12 ozs so they hold quite a bit.

Saw these and thought about picking up a couple...

Haven't looked to see if there’s a difference other than the price...

I still use my hands. Grab a big ol handful and make like a shaker. Not ideal or efficient I know.
