Another Item I am considering is a torch of some sort for cooking. Of course I would like to know if you like yours, but, more importantly, what are the ways that you most use it and how are you most surprised by how you use it.

this is more what I am thinking. I don't have one for my coals either, and not sure yet I need one there. But, realizing the balance of time and heat, and results, and how a little torch could help out a bunch. or so I think.

Attjack, oh definitely, I would not use this one for coals, again, not sure I would ever need one for coals, but, the cooking, I see this as a very useful tool to fuel my ocd tendencies.

I frequently use a Searzall attachment for my Bernzomatic TS8000 torch for searing. Works really well ...
Here's a really bad (and therefore thankfully short) video of us in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrqqK8ClazM
I can't say that I've been very surprised by it ... except for the fact that I now know that I need to make sure it's clear above before using it. Also, it's been known to set off the smoke detectors if I get a little too focused on a dark sear and I've forgotten to turn on the exhaust fan.Last edited by MBMorgan; June 14, 2019, 10:03 AM.

wow, that searsall attachment is pretty bad ass looking. I think I would keep that one as an outside tool. But, man I would want to find ways to use that.

That could be a great video ad for SearzAll. A man and his flame. I like watching with the video speeded up to 2X playback speed. You REALLY rock it then, MBMorgan!
Every time you post about your SearzAll my MCS kicks in again. One of these days I'll have to do something about that.

I use mine for searing. The one I use is this one.https://www.amazon.com/BernzOmatic-3...s%2C193&sr=8-1 Has a nice big flame and importantly a regulator so that it doesn’t flame out if you tip the torch so the tank is above the head.

I like to use mine to carmelize the sauce on ribs to finish them off. It’s the best method I’ve found - put on a nice glaze of your favorite sauce, wave the torch slowly over them in a nice pattern (I go top left to bottom right, just like you read), and as SOON as the sauce starts to bubble under the heat, stop and move on to the next section. My frau thought I was nuts when I did it for the first time, but it took the finished product from really good to OMG good. :-)
Bonus tip - make sure you don’t use the blue part of the flame, just the orange or even the heat past the orange. If you hit it with the blue part, it imparts a fuel-y taste that is very unpleasant... ask me how I know. LOL
